I suppose there's two schools of thought - I'm in the one that had a great day despite the one sided performance on the ground. North Sydney Oval has a real charm to it, feels just like your sitting in the members at the SCG (well, what I imagine it would feel like).
The 6817 who showed up were a great rugby crowd. There were tons of kids mostly dressed in the latest Wallabies jerseys. It couldn't have been any further away from a crowd of ringings if you tried. It's good to see them supporting the local stronghold of Rugby in a competitive marketplace, plus they're will no doubt be a flow on effect at the Wallabies v France next weekend and our home Bledisloe as well.
There are many places I'd like to see the game expanded, top of my list would be ARC style games at Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Nowra, Woolongong. Population centres that already have a local Union comp, and in many cases also have an NRL team.
The other school of thought is to put a one off game in places that have a small following and give them another game in 3 years time. I really can't see Melbourne being sustainable without a Super team based there - since the 4th team is in Perth, we should be concentrating on the purple dollar.
