The Reds' personnel crisis has deepened ahead of its final Super 14 clash against Australian rivals the Waratahs after wing Digby Ioane was suspended for four matches on Monday night.
Ioane received the hefty ban after he pleaded guilty to committing a dangerous tackle against Crusader Casey Laulala during the 65th minute of the Reds' 21-27 loss in Brisbane on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old originally received a yellow card at the time of the offence.
The Queensland outfit will now take on the Waratahs without Ioane, Chris Latham (torn pectoral muscle), Hugh McMeniman (ankle), Greg Holmes (knee) and Sam Cordingley (calf) who are all injured.
The match is looming as an incredibly important one for the New South Wales team which must secure a victory as it attempts to host one of the two semi-finals.
Could be a boon to the Reds chances, now the Tahs won't have good ol butterfingers Digby to kick to.![]()
Isn't that the second appearance in front of the Tribunal for Digby this year?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
yeah he got suspended for a couple of weeks after a dangerous tackle on Hoiles in the Brumbies match.
He gets suspended so he can spend more time with his family....!!!!!!!!
CHEERLEADERS ROCK!!!
Can someone please describe to me why Digby gets 4 weeks for a "dangerous tackle" (and was in play) and the Hurricanes prop gets 1 week for a "wrestling dangerous tackle" (when the play was stopped)...
Getting about as consitent as the GAYFL tribunal...
Digby has just come off a suspension while Tialata is yet to be sentenced at all on this incident, the two weeks is the minimum penalty he could face if guilty however his record will also be considered as was Digby's.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Tialata was was found guilty last night and given 1 week
