Any comments on the shepharding by the ref for the first half. I thought his positioning was so bad that it litterally left a hole open for old mate to run through for a try.
It seems pretty unfair that is could cause such a large impact to the game with no recourse/TMO.
I also noticed that the commentators didn't seem to notice it at all and just talked about how good he is at breaking the line.

I always thought that if the ref got inadvertently caught up in play and impeded a player from either side a scrum was awarded to the team in posession at the time.
Can't identify a law to point to, maybe it was just a convention in junior rugby. But it make sense to stop players running at the ref like that to use him as a free obstruction

That was just before Jake got high tackled & shoulder charged wasn’t it?
The commentary team did pick it up and congratulated it. Ref should get pinged in review for positioning by there review group. Unfortunate for us. Typically half backs used to run at the ref but haven’t seen it for a while.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
