The Australian Rugby Union today rubber-stamped RugbyWA’s decision to terminate the contract of troubled halfback Matt Henjak.
A RugbyWA conduct committee this week ruled that serial offender Henjak should have his Western Force contract torn up after he punched teammate Haig Sare in a Fremantle bar earlier this month.
The ARU supported the move today.
“We recognise the potential impact this action will have on Matt Henjak, but as the governing body of the game in this country we must always be aware of upholding the standards and values of the code,” said ARU chief executive John O’Neill.
“Poor behaviour, and particularly when it relates to serial offenders, will not be tolerated.
“It is a privilege, not a right, to play the game at the professional level. “Responsibilities come with that honour and protecting the game’s image must be paramount at all times.
“At the same time, we will not be casting Matt Henjak aside without any regard for his future. “We are happy to discuss with his management team how we might be able to assist in some ways if he seeks rehabilitation and counselling.”

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to Giteau."
So that's his Force contract gone.
No mention of his ARU contract.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I hope, for his sake, that the last qoiute means they'll be working to find him a pathway back into professional rugby for next year.
I still think hes best taking a whole season off and getting himself right, and letting some water pass under the bridge.
at least it is done with now no more speculation! Hopefully rugby can get back on track and matt can get back on track too
I agree, rugby starts in 15 minutes, may see a few of you at Carbon Bar tonight.
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Cya there TIF, and hopefully a few others. I'm going out with the girls from work tonight, hoping to bring a few of them down to the Cas with me!
You see, fellow TWFers, you should always listen to the wise and inciteful assessments of your old uncle Fulvio.
Did I not say, before the decision was handed down by RugbyWA, that Henjak would lose his contract, but that the door would be open for him in another, more ARU friendly franchise, and that all the ARU wanted was for rugby to be seen to be tough while all the while planning for Henjak's ultimate return for the Wallabies?
Was I not right (as usual)?
No need to thank me.
goony- probably no better or worse than alot of places, but they do show the rugby, and they're open early in the morning when the SA games are on. There were a few people there last week injerseys to watch the game, so not a total bust.
Should have listened to you Fulv, never again will I doubt your wisedom or your insightfulness.
PS. Thanks.
Bugger, I spelt "insightful" wrong. Or was"inciteful" a Freudian slip?
Uncle Fulvio, can you tell me tomorrow nights winning Lotto numbers???![]()
