I thought we were going to play the Southern Kings in Perth.

There's a three week break - we can play more than one match!

What a snore. We should have got together with the Brumbies and Rebels (or some of the NZ teams perhaps?) to bring three of the various European competition finalists/winners down here and handed them around. The June window couldn't have been much better placed for something like that.

No more news at this stage - I have been told by my source that if the game is a goer, I'd be one of the first to know

European finalists minus test players and Super Rugby teams minus test players(and players been rested) was never going to draw a crowd decent enough to justify the costs of flying a team over from Europe

Not for a single game, but Andy was suggesting a 3 game tour for each team.

Plus, I think you underestimate the number of ex-pats in Perth and Melbourne who'd go along to watch the likes of London Irish, Cardiff and Montpellier.

At best you can hope for are crowds of around 8'000..

Still, these teams are minus their test stars and to fly a 25 man squad plus coaching and management staff for a 3 week period, you are looking at a rather large cost.

If both teams had their full contingent of test stars, then you could argue the potential financial windfall, but i think minus their test stars and during the month of June where the Wallabies are already playing, you arent going to receive much support.

We got over 10,000 for a Tuesday night game between Australian Barbars and England (A) two years ago. We'd get more for a weekend game between the Force and a decent European club team - it'd be timed not to clash with the test.

You might not get the crowds in Brisbane, but that's probably because you're used to bigger games. We take any rugby we can get!

Hmm i feel as though you are comparing what are essentially test sides to clubs sides minus their top players.

Im just giving a plausible reason as to why i wouldnt expect to see a European club side playing in Oz during the June break.

Ehh, so find out what Georgia are up to and why none of the second tier teams seem to have played since the World Cup. They all bitch about the lack of games, so why not give them some options. Or organize a Tens tournament, or something - anything - better than friendlies against the same folk you are in the middle of a tournament against. Break even will do in a pinch like if it generates some interest and enthusiasm - it's not like sitting around in the gym is worth much.
