The Western Force’s own Nic White is among the top 10 elite Australian athletes vying for the Sports Dad of the Year award to be announced on Father's Day on Sunday, September 1.

Now in its 15th year the award showcases the contribution Australia's sporting elite make to their families both on and off the field. Last year’s winner, Queensland Origin captain Daly Cherry-Evans, matched his prize money to donate $10,000 to the Gotcha4Life Foundation.

The Sports Dad of the Year will highlight 10 elite athletes across a range of sports, giving insights into how they juggle fatherhood with their sporting commitments.

This year's nominated Sports Dads will be profiled on sportsdads.com.au which will include questions and answers from the players about their families.

All voters have the opportunity to win special prizes for their own father this Father's Day, with the winning Philips Celebrity Sports Dad of the Year receiving $5,000 to donate to their charity of choice.

A proud father of three boys - Leo (6), Sonny (4), and Vin (2) - Nic is relishing his new life in Perth as part of the Western Force, a club known for its strong family-oriented culture. Reflecting on fatherhood, Nic said: "Being a dad has been the most rewarding experience of my life. It’s made me more grounded and given me a different perspective on everything."

Balancing his rugby career with family life, Nic cherishes moments with his children, whether they are playing at home or enjoying the outdoor activities Perth has to offer.

"Sport is a constant in our household, with the boys eagerly participating in activities like run club, jujitsu, nippers, Auskick, rugby, and swimming each week,” he said. “They love being outdoors and have really taken a shine to the pump tracks in Perth lately!"

This year’s finalists also feature NRL stars Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Thomas Burgess and Reuben Cotter, Supercar champion David Reynolds, five-time Paralympian Brenden Hall, NBA and Boomers icon Joe Ingles, Olympic gold medalist and Grand Slam winner Matt Ebden, along with AFL greats Patrick Dangerfield and Lachie Neale, both celebrated for their leadership and multiple accolades, including the prestigious Brownlow Medal.

Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
