Hopefully Scotch can get the jump on Hale in the first round, fingers crossed anyway, 20 years is long enough between Redmonds :S
I hear Hale has had a big pre-season and went overseas during the school holidays. You'd expect them to be pretty sharp next Saturday.
(I dunno about any other team's pre-season)
Beaut...
Guildford 30 Trinity 0
Hale 62 Scotch 0
Chirst Church 5 Wesley 46
Ouch! 21 years and counting...
... talking with one of the TC parents (Buddha, for those who know him in WA rugby circles), he thought Hale, Wesley and GGS were the likely candidates this year.
One of the GGS folk told me they also went on a pre-season tour, so have 4 or 5 games under their belts.
The problem is that some schools have had some intensive pre-season training.
Hale in particular had been training for a month before they went to Hong Kong four weeks ago... At the other end, Scotch have had about five sessions as an actual team.
sour grapes?
Just stating a fact of PSA life I think Pruc.
Some Headmasters value sporting excellence, others value participation for participations sake.
If one team has been training and touring and the other has only had the opportunity to train as a team two weeks prior to the season I don't think you are going to see an upset result.
Aquinas 5 Christ Church 20
Wesley 14 Guildford 25
Trinity 7 Hale 60
A better week for Scotch :S
I'm informed that Scotch got over Trinity in the last play of the match for a 2 point win, thought to have been 30-28.
No idea other results.
GGS beat Aquinas 35 - 8 or something like that.
AC 8 -5 up at half time
Actually 34-32 to Scotch - which was a lot healthier than the 62-0 loss to Hale earlier in the term!!
Results round 1-3:
Rd 1: CCGS 5 v Wesley 46; Guildford 30 v Trinity 0; Hale 62 v Scotch 0; Aquinas bye
Rd 2: Trinity 7 v Hale 60; Wesley 14 v Guildford 25; Aquinas 5 v CCGS 20; Scotch bye
Rd 3: Guildford 31 v Aquinas 6; Hale 38 v Wesley 19; Scotch 34 v Trinity 32; CCGS bye
Thanks Timbo, was relying on a Prop...enough said ;) :P
How is that much healthier Hale put 60 points on both teams, that's the only direct comparison, and the match between the teams had 2 points in it.
I'd suggest that Trinity's 7 points against Hale was probably a lucky consolation try and both teams are about the same.
Next round will count much more to see whether Trinity and Scotch are far worse than the pack or whether Hale is far better (or indeed whether the first three rounds are nothing more than an interesting anomaly)
Wesley 62 - 0 Scotch
