He also said the modern trend is that big sports contract independent production crews to do the games and then the content can be on sold to the free to air TV stations, Fox, Kayo, social media etc. So the sport is in control and the TV station does not have the expense of having to set up a whole production crew and equipment for games here and there.
Australian Open tennis is a good example of this, but here the TV stations might choose to front the feed of a big event like this with their own commentators.
