Thought I'd kick it off with a big vote for Greg Martin!
I would like to also nominate him for the upcoming tool of the year... followed in a few years by tool of the decade!

Greg Growden

Ignore the "we showed the critics" theatrics after Western Force's victory, considering their opponents, a lifeless Rebels outfit, performed as if they had travelled from Melbourne to Perth by camel with several days on the ran-tan in Kalgoorlie.

Have a look at the "Growden Medal" player standings, top 4 has 2 Force players
Wycliff Palu 14.5
Quade Cooper 14
Ben McCalman 14
Alby Mathewson 13
Still an arsehat ...
Why bother with him - ANY attention that's given to him is all he's after. It's only to justify his pathetic ramblings on the site to keep a job so he tries to get a response - any response makes him think people actually are interested in his "opinion"(loosely applied). Why waste the energy?
I dunno. I just replied to his Facebook posting about the same article and there have been no comments so far...very quiet.
I would like to reply to his facebook posting and tell him he's a 1st class PLONKER

Be my guest :)
Not sure if I could use the word PLONKER...
"Good job Growden - proved yet again what a 1st class Plonker you are. Have you ever heard about proper journalism?"
Mission accomplished.
Would love to get Troy Boy down playing 4th grade, be a bloody good laugh with his antics
I told him (without swearing!) what I thought on Twitter this morning. He didn't reply (never does) but his editor did. Agreed that it was a gratuitous reference to the Force but reckoned he still had a point. Also told me that readers like him (guess he must have been referring to NSW only). His protege at the SMH also came to his defence, saying he had been a great mentor to her.
I just hope our boys can do it again, and again, and again just to prove all these bloody eastern states hacks wrong!
Honestly, Alison, I think complaining about him would just give him a lift. He seems very much that type of person. Pretty sure he's been lurking this forum since Jess, TQ1 and a few other TWF girls handed him an introduction in Murray St Mall in about 2007. Much better to just take the piss here. I don't know who he mentored, but I don't think SMH readers liked him too much if their comments on Rugby Heaven were any indication. He was always scathing about the Tahs and NSWRU. May have been on the money but maybe not so smart when you are writing for a NSW readership. I would be surprised if that didn't contribute to his demise as "Chief Rugby Correspondent".
I know you're right Shasta, but I just can't stand by and say nothing when I see such insulting stuff being written about MY team by a poor excuse for a journalist.
After the way the Force played on Saturday, writing what he did in an article that was supposed to be about a player from a completely different team was totally gratuitous and incredibly puerile.
If the Force get half as worked up by his bulldust as I do, they would win by 60 points every week!
When I saw the heading of this thread, I thought ....
Growden needs some lessons from Brett McKay! This article on The Roar is great. Balanced, good-humoured and a pleasure to read.
