I was still sceptical about Ireland being as good as they have been touted, I thought the Boks should have had them.
I changed my mind after the first 50 minutes against a decent Scotland side. They were immense on both sides of the ball & their attack was clinical.
Ireland for me
Ireland. Their banana skin match is this week. Unless they have an off day against NZ, I think they'll go all the way.
Whoever wins the Ireland v New Zealand game wins the cup IMHO.
If Ireland can't win a QF this tournament they should give up playing at the RWC.
Ireland
France
England
Wales
I'de really love to see Ireland do it, but I'm concerned about their chances against UnZud if Lowe and Hansen can't suit up.
Ireland are cursed.
Vamos Los Pumas!
Massive from the darkness. A herculean contest
The "you're just a shit Richie McCaw" sledge from O'Mahoney to Sam Cane in the last game came back to bite him. Cane had a great game
Huge 37 phase effort from the Irish in the last 5 minutes. Took them from deep inside their own half to 5m's out from the win.
Was like watching 2 heavyweights swinging in round 12 with nothing left in the tank!
If you love your rugby, as I'm sure you do.... watch the replay!
Commiserations to the Irish. It didn't deserve to end like that.
It actually makes me feel better about the Wallabies dire straits. A least noone expected much from us.
France v South Africa is worth watching if you like tight matches.
Bunch of sucky results in the quarters all round. I'll be pulling the Pumas jersey out of mothballs, one last hope I guess...
Boks v France was a fantastic game. Well worth a watch
4 great games, the risk now is that the Semi finals will be blow outs. Enough has already been said about the way the draw was done but it still doesn't feel right that France and Ireland didn't get past the 1/4 finals
they were some fantastic matches, with the Argentina/Wales as the lowest quality game (ie skills)
One thing i noticed is that the refs left the breakdown to a mess, so much "release" for ages, but still no penalty. and the number of times people fell over the rucks, and hands down past the ball not being penalised. i think the teams the figured that out ended up winning.
man, devo for the losers, and really not wanting a SA/NZ final, but i expect that will be the result. at least we had 4 corkers!
