nah its just the same story and quotes slightly rehashed.
Once again it comes down to the ARU contract being used as blackmail to keep him at the Reds. If he doesnt sign with the ARU he can go anywhere he likes. This is complete BS and should be taken to the courts.
And by taking his stance Carmichael is threatening to force an incumbent wallaby overseas and thus precluded from internationals...WTF how can the ARU allow this to occur. No franchise should have to power to force an a wallaby out of the gold jersey
Nobody is blackmailing anybody. He signed A THREE YEAR CONTRACT. It's that simple. He is a big boy, on big money, who has an agent and professional advisers. It's up to him to decide if he is going to breach his contract. His decision and he must live with the consequences that flow.
In the rest of society, us mugs have to abide by our legal obligations. I am heartily sick of these confected tears for a few elite athletes who are richly rewarded for possessing some football genes that they inherited by dumb luck!
CAPS don't work Tic they won't listen, I've tried ;)
Either way I hope this sets some precedent and Mr Pulver gets this shit together at the ARU level so we can all move on. He seems to be getting on top of a lot of stuff in a short time, I hope it continues.

LOL yeah just me bashing the keyboard, mainly because of a bad day at work.
So you DO work at QRU tic?

personally I don't give a rats arse about Digby, and have zero desire for him to return to the Force. Exactly the type of player attitude we do not want.
given this, its not that simple. All kinds of contracts are signed that are illegal, contract dispute is pretty much the single largest aspect of legal proceedings. My point still remains, the QRU contract is apparently forcing an international player to remain with them or go overseas and out of the national set up by dint of the ARU top up provisions.
Disgraceful.
I HEAR YOU BISON...

Is it really all that complicated?
For a while there the ARU took the stance that they wouldnt negotiate with players until they agreed to terms with a province first.
So Diggers negotiated with te QRU and agreed to the 3year contract, he then negotiated with the ARU who only offered a 2 year contract with an option for a third year.
Quade was the same, he signed with the QRU months before signing his ARU contract. He too negotiated a 3 year deal at the Reds but only received a 2 year deal from te ARU.
Every player who plays for a super rugby club in Australia needs to sign a contract with the ARU, it's part of the RUPA CBA.

Furthermore to the last, players aren't allowed to play for Super Rugby clubs until the ARU receives and signs off on the players contract, thus if Digby doesn't take up the third year option in his ARU deal then his not allowed to play for the Reds or any team in Australia..
Australian players need a contract with both the provincial union(Reds/Force) and governing body(ARU)..

When all is said and done its still a massive cluster fark! It shouldn't get to this stage.
Lets hope the ARU simplify the procedure so this situation doesn't arise again.
I think we would all like to watch a Wallaby team made up of the most talented Australian players of the day rather than the players who managed their contract negotiations the best. Knowing that there are better players out there who somehow screwed up contractually just sucks.
The ARU being involved in the contracts process is stupid
The instance that someone can sign a 3 year deal with one of the franchises and yet only be offered 2 years by the governing body is dumb.
Scrap Wallaby top ups and give the money to the franchises directly, raise the salary cap and playing for the Wallabies should be match payments only
The ARU should adopt an NRL approach and only be there to register the contract
I know Shasta has said this often but I agree with it
I know RUPA will never let it happen

Digby made his bed, he can lay in it. Nobody is bigger than the game
This is occupying a lot of space for a western Force forum.
