Eagle wanting the Bonus point
84 min and they are playing on.
Eagle score a try and get a bonus point.
Eagles convert.
Final Score.
NSW Country Eagles 48 d Perth Spirit 24.
Good game. Eagles certainly deserved the win, but some excellent play both ways. Have to applaud the attacking intent, but realistically the smart move would have been to deny them the bonus point rather than chase that last try.
Spirit certainly had plenty of opportunities but left lying on the field with all the knock ons. Maybe changing so many faces for this game disrupted the flow and they certainly missed Luke but good to see Ben having a great game.
Damn Fox Sports. The TV guide said Spirit game starting at 1. Thought time must have changed with move of location. Turn it on and it's the next NRC game though info still says Spirit are playing. Bugger!
Did the same thing Eley!
Nestor unimpressed by holiday Spirit

Perth Spirit must win their remaining two National Rugby Championship matches to have a chance of making the semi-finals after today's 48-24 loss to ladder leading New South Wales Country Eagles.
Spirit face reigning premiers Brisbane City at UWA Sports Park next Sunday followed six days later with a clash against the Vikings in Canberra.
But if they are to progress some players need to learn how to concentrate from kick off to final whistle.

Jake Gordon has been unstoppable this whole NRC. Leading contender for NRC find of the year.
I was waiting for the game at 1 pm like everyone else so obviously missed it. What was the set piece like Gerry, any improvement.

Scrums were better by the Spirit though we still conceded a few too many penalties from front row silly buggers by both teams. The ref pinged us early and continued to ping us even when we weren't at fault. We created a lot of good linebreaks just keep knocking on the final pass or trying to push a pass that wasn't needed. Lacked a little bit of cohesion early between Ruru and Lance but it got better as the game went on. We got a bit lazy in our inside defenders pushing up to help the outside line speed which NSW Country took advantage of. Apart from his 2 try involvements Kyle went missing for a long period.
Just a fraction off on our execution, left a couple tries out there.
Who did the Ruck Work against the NSW Country Eagles?
Remember:
1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Comments:
- Good involvement from Stringer and Mulikihaamea with strong support for Spirit ball carriers.
- Stringer and bench players had big last 10 mins.
- Pleasing return to form for McCalman. I counted 3 TOW.
- Hadleigh May was having strong involvements until he came off at 32 mins. with what appeared to be a knee injury. 1 TOW. His efforts were missed.
- Fantastic to have 2 Hookers, Tessman & Scoble, so involved around the park.
- The Spirit stood off 40% of the Eagle's rucks - maintaining a strong defensive line.
- Best efforts by Backs: Brache - 17T (14A/3D); Matuauto - 14T (10A/4D); Eden - 11T (8A/3D)
- Too many handling errors by the Spirit counted in the end.
Is Mulikihaemea likely to be offered an extended squad spot on his games for the Spirit this year?
