Don't need cavalry - called in a pack of pariahs.
You are forgetting that the Force recruited Deegan from Connacht as he had left the Waratahs.Quote:
To round up. His talent was recognised by the Waratahs, it was the Force who scouted him from NRC/NSW Country Eagles and poached him from the Waratahs. Stop being such a whinging hypocrite and enjoy your rugby.
Close, but no.
He had played for Australia Schoolboys and U20s, was in the Waratahs EPS for 2016 & 2017, and played for NSW Country Eagles in the NRC in 2016 (and played well). He was also reported as the top scorer in the Shute Shield (albeit in the Irish press). But he left the Waratahs after the 2017 SR season. I recall a few on the Roar who were unhappy that he'd been let go. He was signed by Connacht (west Ireland), although he only played for them a couple of times in the 2017-18 Pro 14 season.
Connacht don't usually sign young talent for only 1 season, so when he came back to the Force I assumed that he'd gotten out of his contract somehow (if he only played 2 games he might well have been injured). He said that he was back due to his desire to play in Australia. To me, that suggests that a) he'd have stayed at the Waratahs if they'd offered him a contract after 2017, but the Tah's management obviously didn't rate him, and b) he only went to Connacht because there wasn't an offer from another SR side after 2017 (with there being a glut of talent on the market at that time).
When the Force announced his signature there were posts on the Roar that were happy he was back in Aus, but wanted him as Foley's back-up in Sydney. Having seen him play in the WSR, I can understand those posters' views - he's clearly a very talented bloke.
I don't think we've ever tried to claim 'ownership' of Deegan - we know he's a Sydney boy - he nearly single-handedly beat us in the 2016 NRC final! But we do take pleasure at having brought him back to Australian rugby after his talent was overlooked by NSW.
Thank you Sheikh,
that is a great post. I did note "certain" people, I know that these agitators do not represent the genuine rugby loving majority of Western Australia, they just seem to make the most noise sadly.
This part is what I took exception with mostly from the OP
"arrogant Eastern states teams thinking they can take our players as soon as we identify their talent which was overlooked by SR teams"
"our players", "we identify" etc.
'Agitators', you're on a Western Force forum, who's the agitator?
Well, Deegan has a Force contract, so he is 'our player'.
And his talent does appear to have been overlooked by the NSW management, although not by Randwick, Australia Schoolboys, or Connacht before us!
