Back in the 70's I ordered half a dozen oysters before my steak in the "Hi Fri" in New Plymouth. I questioned getting 5 bluff oysters in 3 shells and was told it was a metric half dozen. No shut.
It doubled as a fish n chip shop at the front. I remember having a chuckle while I was waiting for the grub "2 fush n chups", "fush n chups end a fush cake", " 2 fush n chups end a paua frutter".......:)

There are no words that adequately describe my first (and hopefully last) encounter with a paua frutter.
Been in Sydney since Friday morning and would not even know that there is a Rugby Union team in the state, let alone the codes HQ, pages and pages of mungo and AFL in the press and plenty of TV news coverage for both of them too, but not boo about Rugby :sad:
