Ok, I'll grant you that as long as you forfeit the right to complain when the ALP fail to deliver on any election promise and dump the sitting prime minister whenever it suits them.

Shit, I just realized how much I need to watch a good game of rugby right now!
This thread is in the Public Bar. Most people realise that a pub is no place to rave on about politics or religion. Except the drunken ballbags who think people are interested in their ravings. So; Time gentlemen please.
Or STFU!!!
Whichever one you please. :)

It has come about after a generation of "Presidential style" elections, where people are too focused on "voting the leader" rather than paying attention to who the local muppet is who is actually getting your vote and blessing.
This works during an era of strong leaders (read Whitlam, Fraser, Hawke and Howard) but meanwhile there is 30 years of coat tail riding oxygen thieves being voted in or out on the strength of their respective party leader.
My advice, ignore the opinion polls and focus on the who is the best candidate to represent your values and priorities in your electorate.
Until we do we will never get genuine national leaders as there is no depth in the potential pool to draw on.
