Is Rona still a chance? Or Medrano?
Force fail to land targets
Western Force have gone back to the drawing board in their hunt for a new centre after being foiled in their bid to bring home Wallaby Curtis Rona from London Irish.
And they are being frustrated in their move for another former Force player, Argentinian prop Santiago Medrano, who faces an uncertain future with financially embattled English premiership club Worcester Warriors.
Rona had been targeted by the Force and new coach Simon Cron, who coached him at the Waratahs , had spoken to him.
Cron said Rona, who played rugby for Wanneroo and went through the RugbyWA and Force pathways , wanted to add to his three 2017 Wallabies appearances . Rona, pictured , asked for an early release from the two years remaining on his contract with the English premiership club, however the request has been turned down.
He recently played for the Exiles in their 19-14 pre-season clash with Munster.
Rona moved to the Waratahs when the Force were axed by Rugby Australia and also had spells in WA rugby league and with NRL clubs Canterbury Bulldogs and North Queensland Cowboys.
The Force are still waiting to see if Medrano will become available for next season.
They need an experienced front-rower and have had talks with Medrano’s management about a possible return.
Medrano left the Force after two years at the end of last season to join Worcester .
The 32-time capped front-rower joined the Force from the Jaguares when they were cut from Super Rugby.
Meanwhile, Western Force Super W fly-half Trilleen Pomare has been selected for the Wallaroos World Cup squad for next month’s tournament.
Pomare made her international debut in the 2017 World Cup in Ireland.

I wonder if Rona was ever actually available. He re-signed with Irish last year for 3 seasons until early 2024 IIRC. I can't imagine they'd be too keen to release him. He's been one of their top few consistently good performers.

Taniela Tupou unhappy with Thorn, friends with Feleti, could he be on the list for Cron to chat with?
So who is (new signing) Oliver Cummins? Anyone know what position he plays?
Devastating news for Worcester Warriors staff and players today. Anyone got any idea of that improves our chances of getting Santiago back in to the Force?
Probably only an improvement from zero to highly remote. The Argentinian players were reported to have been told that they have to be playing regularly in Europe in order to make the RWC squad; so Medrano would be likely to try and get loaned to another European side. Of course, he could try and get an exemption, as the Pumas captain, Matera, is at the Crusaders.
Oliver Cummins has been selected for the Rugby WA Under 19, 32 man squad.
I assume he will be part of the wider training group.
From the video appears to be a decent size full back.
With school videos hard to judge ability as opposition unknown.
Appears to have a bit of a league background which often helps with tackiling abilities
Another piece in place. Geez! we've got some top tier coaching staff!

Curtis Rona linked with the Gold Coast Titans

Former Wallaby Curtis Rona is reportedly set to return to rugby league after a five-year stint in rugby union.
The 30-year-old was expected to sign with the Western Force before the deal fell through. According to Wide World of Sports he bizarrely then went AWOL from his current side the London Irish with friends and family unable to reach him.
MIA? Foxsport drawing a long bow, London Irish had a bye this week, last played 1 October and only scheduled to play again 14 October.
Curtis is locked in at London Irish and Gold Coast only suggest an interest.
