ON G&GR tonight - Nick Stiles announced as new Reds Coach after World-wide search.
(evidently a good mate of Rugby Reg and not all Reds Fans are happy).
Do we actually know the candidates or are we just assuming they are the same as the QLD shortlist plus our current assistants?
I am hoping that maybe Laurie Fisher has applied for the job but didn't go for the QLD one. Otherwise I think it should be out of blackadder, Meyer or O'Connor. If O'Connor gets it then it will just look like the ARU keeping the locals in charge that they can control easier
All over the radio here this morning that it's stiles.
Gotta love their efficiency. 2nd "worldwide" search in 12m & hired someone who doesn't need any relocation allowance!
(Talk about jobs for the boys...)
Yeah, same on ABC NewsRadio. Pleased for Stiles but he's got a big job on his hands!
You have to admit, he's done a good job with the pack. They had no forwards to speak of in 2011 and he's taken some boys who were trading on reputation alone and he has turned them into a pretty competitive unit.
Arguably the best scrum in Australia, and he's using a front row that, until this year, were only useful around the park for mobility.
If O'Connor gets hired as the Force coach I'll give up my membership.
Yesterday I suggested that Todd Blackadder would be heading to Europe because the Western Force/ARU cant afford what he is asking/worth.
Now I am thinking I am wrong.
I believe that Todd Blackadder is possibly the only Coach that has the ability to put together a game plan and motivate the players to "play above their skill and level of ability. aka the type of player the Force attracts.
This one factor could be the X factor that the Western Force/ARU is looking for. They may spend more on attracting Todd Blackadder to Perth. So they don't have to spend as much on players coming to Perth.
In 2014 Coach Foley and the Force showed that a properly motivated fit and healthy team can fight well above their weight limit. Todd Blackadder has that same ability, but also find consistency to do it year in year out.
I hope it's between Blackadder and Meyer.
Meyer dramatically improved the absolute shambles that was the Bulls when he took over there.
He did lose to Japan though...
Blackadder hasn't won a title at the crusaders - but they're still a team that you can't count out.
IMHO they gave Stiles the Reds gig because he wouldn't want to come back to Perth and the ARU wanted him in a Head Coach role. It was always between him and O'Connor for mine with the leftovers heading here for a show down with Scott Wisemantle for the Force gig.
Yeah I think Wisemantel could be a good option. He has a lot of experience.
Who is Wisemantel??
If we get another Aussie coach, I'm outa here after 11 years
