The Birth of a Tournament.
Once upon a “time” (Clue 1), a couple of CEO’s of “progressive unions” (Clue 2) had a dream of improving Rugby.
They came up with a concept that would increase the level of professionalism of the game of Rugby.
They went to a “governing body” (Clue 3) and proposed a tournament. For which they were derided and criticized.
The “strong unions” (Clue 4) argued that they were the Premier Tournament and any other tournament would weaken their product.
The press went crazy and predicted the end of the Rugby World as we know it……they predicted that it would all end in tears and it would never last.
However after much lobbying the tournament was approved on the proviso it would only be approved for 2 seasons after which it would be reviewed.
Eventually the tournament was created (Clue 5)
