Well done to Lauren, perhaps the Tahs should sign her up to help Vicks in the lineout

Jackson ties WNBA record

July 25, 2007

Australian Captain Lauren Jackson tied the all-time scoring record in the WNBA with 47 points for Seattle Storm in a one-point overtime loss to Washington Mystics.

Jackson made 18 field goal shots from 28 attempts and sunk two crucial free throws with just seconds remaining in regulation time to level the scores at 88-all.

But her stunning effort wasn't enough, with the Storm going down 97-96 after extra time in Washington.

Jackson, who also had 14 rebounds, tied the WNBA scoring mark of Phoenix's Diana Taurasi, who bagged 47 points in a 111-110 triple-overtime win at Houston last August.

Jackson's haul marked just the fifth time in WNBA history that a player has scored 40 or more points.

The Australian star's previous WNBA high was 35 points against Los Angeles Sparks in June this year.

She scored 56 points in March while playing for Samsung Bitchumi in the Women's Korea Basketball League (WKBL) - another all-time league record.
