Perth Gold have finished their unbeaten tour of the east coast with an impressive 23-12 win over the ACT President's XV in Canberra last night.

Hooker Joe Egan started the scoring for the Gold when he dived on a loose ball after the ACT's attempt to kick their way out of defence was charged down. James Stannard was unable to convert the try, and a converted try to the home side gave the ACT XV a 7-5 lead at the break.

In a flowing game played at good speed, the Gold began to make their dominance at the breakdown and scrum count on the scoreboard when Perth-Bayswater halfback Curtis MacLean darted from the scrumbase to score a second try for the WA team.

James Stannard scored the third try when he finished off an outstanding backline movement to cross out wide. Stannard also added two second half penalties to lead the Gold to a 23-12 victory.

Perth Gold 23 (Egan, MacLean, Stannard tries; Stannard con, 2 pens)

Perth Gold also beat the Melbourne Axemen 26-10 and the Illawarriors 45-0 on their week-long tour.
