    Perth Spirit Team

When will the Perth spirit Team be announced? It might be easier to sell tickets if people knew who was going to be in the team. Surely some of the squad has be finalised and can be announced.

I read somewhere here or there that there is a contractural restriction that they cant name the team till after a certain date...I would guess its about the time the World Cup 30 are announced.......but...I could be wrong...it has happened......not sure when...lol

Have you been hiding under a rock since the Saffers decided to send over a squad of ageing has-beens to 'compete' in the Tri-Nations?

If anyone is interested you can get a bit of an idea of what the ARC squads (the major players anyway) will be like from searching each team on wikipedia. It gives a bit of probable stuff on the Tornadoes/Rays/Rebels/Fleet/Rams leaving only the Vikings (whatever Brumbies are left minus a few playing elsewhere), the Force (see Vikings situation) and the Aces (Reds squad minus Wallabies and Tornadoes players).

It's pretty interesting anyway. Matt Hodgson and Jon McGrath seem to be the only Force players I can find going east (atm).
It'll certainly be interesting to see the Rebels playing. It'll take them a while to get it together but the squad has some keen young talents.

My money for the top 4 is the Tornadoes (good forwards depending on Wallabies selection), Force (of course), Fleet (also good forwards with some good backs) and Brumbies (although they have lost a lot due to Wallabies and the three they've had to send to the Rebels). With a Force vs Fleet Final on the cards.

ok you would think that one, if not two of mackay, hilgendorf and daruda would be seriously looking elsewhere for consistant oppos, probably at melbourne. as i understand it the force has to give melbourne at least 3 of its players so i would expect one of them to go.... interesting we have got 2 top class openside breakaways in our squad already (croft and hodgson)

Hasn't there been talk of Scott Daruda moving overseas? I hope Mackay stays here, Hilgendorf can be reserve flyhalf/fullback

Yeah it would be good for them to pick up game time elsewhere. I think perhaps Digby Ioane is at Melbourne as our '3rd player' although technically a red he isn't until the season is finished so maybe thats how they are passing him off.

Ioane is definetly a "Rebel" if he ain't a Wallaby - O'Neil siad so at his frist day on the job which was some sort of rugby lunch ahead of the Bledisloe - they made a big thing of him being on the team - almost made me wonder if the Rebels are going to be stacked in some way

Ioane has signed with the rebels. i can remember reading an article as long ago as last year detailin how excited digby was to finally play rugby at home. good for him, a team like the rebels could use a poster boy, hes as good a one as u will find in the ARC i think you'll find...

How many "homes" does Digby need? I thought he was homesick to be in QLD

Digby might be a little less homesick to learn that Turinui is coming back to Qld to 'resurrect' his rugby career!!!

Because homesick equals bench-sick. Although I doubt Turinui is realistic competition for Ioane. They'll play Turinui at inside centre.

I think having Turinui is a really bad move for Queensland.
They need a fresh start with youthful exuberance, they don't need to take over a has-been "great brain".
Turinui at #12 will mean #10 Barnes and Cooper missing out.
Turinui at #13 will mean players like Charlie Fetoai, Peter Hynes, Lloyd Johansson, Henari Veratau all being pushed out to compete with Caleb Brown, Chris Latham, Clinton Schifcofske, Brando Va'aulu and Andrew Walker for the three back three positions.
Queensland have the young cattle to make a decent team, they just need a suitable youth Coach and a tad of luck to keep Latho on the park.
