didnt realise he was hurt that bad.
took a fair while to get him into surgery too
hopefully he can recover quickly and put his metal shoulder to good use

I'm sure he'll be keen to get back and all - with Junior and Jimmy both out, he'd have a relatively clear run at 12 for a bit.

Why so long to get him under knife? Thought they would've done it ages ago??

How long is James Hilgendorf out for? Is anyone else in the long-term injured category?

I agree Harry. If I recall correctly (I stand corrected), they did expect him to be "fit" further on in the World Cup which leads me to assume that initial thought was that the injury was of the sort not requiring surgery. Recovery has probably been slower leading to a reassessment.

Should be back for the preseason... but that's not as important as the Super 14 season. I wouldn't like to see him rush to be ready for the Crusaders and then get in a spot of bother and not be able to play in South Africa.
    Gotta have priorities.
But in saying that, ideally he'll bounce back in no time and never get injured again.
