Like most clubs, Palmyra has a coach for each grade, even a few assistant coaches. But Pally have also secured an extra coach, in the form of a Volvo 48 seater, with aircon, heating, individual seat lighting, velour seats and all the trimmings.
This coach, the pride and joy of club president Rob Turner, was acquired during the summer from a failing tour operator, professionally reconditioned by club sponsor Nick Ennis through his company World Diesel Pty Ltd of North Fremantle, and is now fully operational and ready to go.
"This will be a great asset to the club" said Rob at the recent season's launch function. "Apart from its obvious use to take players and supporters to away games, it will expand opportunities for the club to travel greater distances to promote rugby, and the Palmyra brand in particular, to potential country destinations such as Carnarvon ,Geraldton, Esperance and Kalgoorlie for example, at a very much more economical cost. Who knows, we could even look at Eastern States travel. The Elizabeth 7's in Adelaide next year, followed by the IRB Adelaide 7's the week after, are an attractive possibility."
Rob also indicated that subject to the club's own needs, the coach could be made available to other rugby orientated parties such as clubs and supporters groups.
For the present however Rob is more intent on decorating the coach in club colours and branding it with sponsors' logos in appreciation of their support.
Pally supporters and club apparatchiks hope that the appointment of this coach will be as successful as that of those up and running already.
