This is a hard one, I sit on the fence, because it is not for me to judge as an Australian whether South Africa is doing the right thing, because I never went through apartheid.

The other side of the story to what we see as the winning motive, is that Black South Africans need role models and support and to help improve the economic standing of the black people, who are still on the bottom thrungs of society.

While I am white, I can imagine how I would feel knowing that when I went for a job interview, if I saw a Black Female I would think my chances are limited for any job, knowing that as a white male I am the last on the list to get a job.

But the issues are with Mntini, when their was outrage over his selection a few years back by this very same thing, because he was put into a very powerful South African lineup back in the late 1990's and he was only a young fellow and was only selected because he was black.

Through game time, promotion we now have him as one of the best bowlers in the world, Mntini is an inspiration for the country and is the most popular sportsman in the country, he gives a face to Black South Africa in a white dominated sport in the country.

Alas I am on the fence, but just propping up the other side, because I think we all get caught up in our own context.

Alas get rid of that joke of a president in Mbeki!

Don't forget Herscelle Gibbs, Robin Peterson & Roger Telemachus
So that makes it 6 out of 15

Can anyone spot the sweeping generalisation there?

    Is that how racism starts?

There are plenty of black players good enough to play for the Springboks on merit. I don't agree with quotas, but don't see this as an excuse these days.
Habana, Willemse, Jacobs (we need him at 12!), JP, Guthro, to name a few, are all good enough to make the squad on merit.

Politicians in every country will find something to go on about for point scoring. Australia has its own problems, quotas in rugby just happens to belong to South Africa.

Willemse I don't believe is of Springbok standard. Would you play Jacobs ahead of Jean? Jacobs is a great player; but I would prefer Murray at outside.

Not 100% certain of Willemse yet but would like to see more of him. I think Jacobs is better than Barrit, and both Jacobs and Barrit are showing better form than JDV at the moment. Fourie is the best outside centre for the Boks and has done nothing wrong all year, but Murray is pretty good too. That's just what I think though

We're gonna have to set up our own "Springbok selection" thread soon Shaun

Barrit is a legend; but we are talking about black players.

    Yes we should do that!

Are there quotas in Cricket? I thought the ANC politicians just picked on rugby.
