How were you disciplined as a child?

They were doing this on the radio this morning.

Some bloke recently got charged for giving his lad a whack with a belt, apparently you are not allowed to hit your kids with any objects these days, and probably not allowed to hit them at all.

How were YOU disciplined as a kid?

I was such a good kid I never had to be disciplined..........no really,............. really!

Ok then............... the odd belting from the old boy but mostly loss of extremely meager privileges.

My brother and I work out that if you got the carving knife out and cut into the handle just a little that they'd break every time....

    then came the kettle cord..

Cattle stock whip on the odd occasion, plenty of belt moments to recall as well, or the old favourite, locked in your room for a few hours...And i have no animosity to my parents to this day, and probably deserved most of the punishment i received...That would be classed as child abuse today of course, but it wasn't and the reason a lot of our youth of today don't give two shits about anything but themselves is a direct result of the experts of our societys' determining that we are not giving children the right message when we punish them, BULLSH*T....

By my parents: belt, back of the hand

By the crazy friggin nuns: yard sticks, huge paddles, math books over the head, science books over the head, college rings turned around and hit in the head, leather straps ect. They were definitely a group of crazy bitches. They would hit you with anything they could find except a steak!

    funny!

Thought I'd be clever and wear two or three pairs of underpants to school everyday, but the female teachers always missed and got me on the legs/back/head etc.

And look how well I turned out

I wouldn't hit an animal if I were training it, so I wouldn't hit a kid either. I never respected anyone for hitting me, but the punishments I remember most were the ones that had consequences. For example, when mum stopped the car and made me apologise to an irrate driver for giving him the bird from the back window.

    Wooden spoon.
I used to run so they couldn't hit me, but I had to come back sometime.
    Then I copped it two-fold!

I agree whole heartedly with giving kids the odd spank, they need the discipline!! I see a lot of kiddies I wish I could wollop myself
    Do I sound old?
