Nah, think it was after the Wesley Regatta.
Just pulled up a pew on the wall near that young coach's red ute and reminisced on old days....
The sounds haven't changed, just the faces.
If you aren't winning I would think the "need" is every week!
Unless it was one foot plus swell we used to row both ways.
Even if it is rough that adds to the adventure, spent a few Saturday arvo's floating around on a pair of oars waiting for the dinghy to come back

Little bit of trivia for you Beaver, Scotch still holds the Yr 9 1000m record for the Narrows Course from 1988.
Can't remember the time but our year was the first time Yr 9's rowed in the HOTR and the last HOTR at the Narrows.

Will the rest of the Regatta's still be at the Canning pruc?
Looks like a good race apart from the colours...

Because the hale one is a 'rehearsal' for the head of the river..

It was rough on the way back last Saturday. The first quad sank.. I thought that was quite funny...

We rowed past them, and the cox was screaming "STOP ROWING!!" but the four guys in front of him thought it was a big joke. They weren't laughing when they had a sunken 60 grand boat on their hands!

One day we returned from the Canning and managed to sink all but two IV's!
Had oarsmen floating everywhere on oars (assume you know what I mean there? You cross the oars over and hold them with your legs, body under the crossover underwater and then armpits over the handles...) and Coaches flying around in dinghy's in a panic.
Ended up with boats beached overnight from Nedlands YC to Perth Flying Squadren! Had to get security gaurds in overnight and then we all came back on the Sunday to row the rest of the way back!!!
It was a great day but coming back on the Sunday sucked a bit.
I guess we did get to have an extra training day though...

Another day we sunk our Yr10 VIII on the way to Canning.
Had the whole crew hanging off their own rigger casually swimming the shell to shore when the Bowman started working his way down the boat.
When he reached and then passed me at Stroke I asked him what the hell he was doing.
Saying nothing he continued to the stern, held onto the rudder and after a minute or two grinned and started working his way back to his position.
As he came around me he said the immortal, "When ya gotta go, ya gotta go!"
We weren't game to look back for a while in case they were floaters

No mate, haven't seen it yet.
Hope to get down next season so might get the chance then.
Certainly is some dollars tied up in that shed now.
Interesting though, they did a rough comparison back when I was there and at that stage, even with a full shed of equipment it still cost more to have cricket at Scotch than rowing once you factored in land values, curator wages etc!
Might be a bit closer now but we still don't tie up five acres of prime real
    estate!
Just trying to work it out Beaver, you will be a Yr12 in our Reunion year I think?
    2010? Bit of a worry

oh gees.. i hope your not at my table!

well that 5 acres is for all the other sports too..

But i think it would be getting close.

Syme still hates rowing because he has no power over it. Gotta love the Golland club. I'm sure they hate the 9's though.. our generation have broken an entire set of oars

    Ouch, how you manage that?!
Playing fields, yeah that was factored in and shared out to the other codes as well, those grounds are worth mega bucks.
Table: You'll have to make the VIII to have that honour mate
Will be a big night for us as a few haven't caught up since our ten year and most have families etc so don't get so many "Boys Nights" anymore.
Hoping it won't still be a case of celebrating our last HOTR win though, two years to go

You could be the crew they name the new boat after

Fordy said the new boat will either be named after the president of the Golland club, or after one of the HOTR winning crews.

I only added to two of those braking occasions

Jaxon, (b's stroke) did about 4 of them.. two in one session once..

    "The Roaring '90" maybe
Bloody hell, deserves to hung up by his thumbs for that effort, 4!!!
Only oar damage in five years I managed was on my HOTR one when in attempting to take the head off the Cox of the Christchurch VIII for false starting AND cutting in front of us I clipped the stern instead.
That was the Hale Regatta I think and it now proudly hangs on my wall, battle scar and all
