    Philly Eagles sign AFL Dude!

The NFL Philadelphia Eagles sign an Aussie dude to try out for kicking position. I hope he makes the team next summer!

    Big Sav signed!
There had been plenty of speculation about it.
He has a monster roost on him Larry, just have to see if he can convert it to the different ball.
The Aussie fellas who go over tend to help each other out as much as possible, even though they play for different teams.

He seems a little old but a kicker in the nfl doesn't have to do anything but kick the ball so he should be fine and that may be a big reason why he wants to come up, he can continue to play without the abuse on his body. I don't think the different ball will be an issue. If he kicks it as far in the NFL as they say he does down there and has a half decent personality he'll become an instant legend in Philly and he'll make a boat load of money outside of the game.

On my way home from work there was a call to the local talk radio from a guy in Oz talking about him. That's when i heard about the signing.

Yeah, pretty rare for the AFL fellas to head to the US until only a year or so of AFL left in them, as you say, not a huge physical workload for kickers.
I think Darren Bennett has been the most successful in recent memory but I believe Ben Graham has adjusted pretty well too.
Some do have trouble converting to the new ball as the shape and weight is quite different however all rounder sportsmen tend to adjust to anything.
Sav isn't really Mr Charisma however Carlton fans seem to love him, I'm sure he will make headlines when he heads over and (for his sake) never make them again unless he kicks the winning points!
Certainly a better super fund than Rugby players going to Europe!
