You can make multiple lateral passes but only one forward pass in each play (or "down" as it's called over there).

Very seldom will you see more than 1 lateral in a play unless it's in desperation like this play with seconds left in the game. Even less often will you see a kicker miss an extra point. I'm sure the percentage of extra points made is over 99.
