Apart from being great news to hear that one of the Touring Party isn't seriously injured, this is great news for both the Reds and the Wallabies.
I am convinced that McMeniman is a vital part of our RWC Squad with his genuine versatility of playing 4, 5, 6 & 8 equally well and I don't think it will be the last we see of him in Gold.
He certainly deserves reward for his dedication at any rate!

McMeniman given all clear for Reds

Thursday, November 23, 2006

Reds lock Hugh McMeniman is expected to be fit for the start of next year's Super 14 season despite suffering a neck injury on the Wallabies' European tour.

The 23-year-old was hurt just eight minutes into his comeback from a shoulder reconstruction during Australia A's 24-16 loss to Welsh club the Ospreys on November 2.

McMeniman returned home early and visited a neurosurgeon in Brisbane, who cleared him to resume contact work in two weeks.

"I haven't played any rugby for about a year so I'm very happy," he said today.

McMeniman's progress will be reviewed in early December to decide if he can resume full contact training before Christmas.
