Cheers AS none of us are 6'10'' but plenty over 6', may not even call the bus company by the sound of this. Any idea of one way cost Sydney - Canberra??

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

The bus used to be $10 if you booked in advance, but it's McCafferty's/Greyhound or Murray's who go between Canberra & Sydney.
Looks like it's $36 each way now though!

I've done that trip heaps (lived in Canberra for 18 months) and the bus is fine - except when you get one that has come down from QLD or somewhere and people have been travelling for 24 hours - that's a bit feral!

My recommendation for your leisure time is go to the Pig & Whistle in Civic for drinks - it's a boutique brewery and the beers are great. You can spend hours in the War Museum - but it's worth a visit too!

If the game is at Bruce Stadium - which I think it will be - there's the Bundy Supporters bar but that's about it. The Staudium is kind of in the middle of nowhere really, not many walking options for bars.

You're better off getting the free bus to and from Civic and drinking there - other watering holes in Civic are King O'Malley's and I've been told Mooseheads is a Saturday night party place - it had burnt down and was being rebuilt when I was there though!
Depends where you stay but Civic probably has the most choices for a night out - Kingston was my favourite hang-out for pubs and restaurants though.

PJ O'Reilleys is another good one.

But as eleypinkbit said Canberra Stadium in in the middle of nowhere when it comes to pubs because it is in the same area as a uni and the AIS. But there is free shuttles form the ground into the city and my guess is you would stay in the city anyway because there isnt all that much accomadation elsewhere.

I might have to rethink this since it seems in the next few weeks I will be making a bit of a mad dash to Canberra. I just found out that the father of one of my good friends died not long ago.

    Itinerary updated on front page.

Where is "Civic" located, north or south of Lake BG? I can't see it in my directory but assume it is near Reid and Braddon?

Yep - it's next to Reid. It's the main city area - but too small to be called "the City" so it's Civic instead (well that was always my theory anyway!)

    Thanks for that.

Is Bruce Stadium and Canberra Stadium the same ground?

And do you know anyone in the hotel business that may help us out??

Used to know the Bar Staff and bouncers in a few places - but I'm guessing you mean hotels to stay in!
