Cron is already without injured front-rowers Siosifa Amone, Harry Hoopert, and Angus Wagner.

Marley Pearce is suspended, former All Blacks prop Atu Moli is close to playing while Wallabies prop Tom Robertson is on a sabbatical at Oxford University.

"I messaged Tom Robertson and I said I think it's time to come home son," Cron said. "He said 'I won't be long'."

"We've been looking in Australia for the last four months for extra looseheads.

"We've got two in our academy and one who is with us training but they are not quite up to Super Rugby yet and if I put them out there, I'll hurt them or ruin their career.

"I can't do that. The good thing about Coxon is he came off a Super Rugby pre-season so therefore physically he's in a position where we're not going to hurt him, well hopefully not hurt him.

Signs of hope? I expected to lose by about that margin along with a couple of others in the poll. The two areas where a lot of us thought depth was a problem were spot-on. But I doubt too many predicted that depth to be so thoroughly tested before we even got going. These are not excuses; just facts. Apart from the disappointment you'd have to be happy with the positive play when we actually had the ball.

Out of the years the two sides have competed the record is that the Force have finished higher up the ladder than the Rebels in 6 out of 10 seasons. Even with the generous leg-ups from RA they have overspent to the tune of some $20 million - just since the $1 sale. Domination? More like a reckless rabble.

Attack stats as expected were good.

Backline very busy and Harris, Horton and Medrano did well in the forwards and again Coxon figures in the stats.

What's the head to head stats? I think that's a better reflection than ladder position. Also didn't Rugby Aus give you ownership for free

What stats don't convey is the effectiveness of the ball carrier engaging the line. I was impressed with the improvement of Donaldson in that department. Now if we can just get some fit forwards to keep them on the front foot into the second half there's still a chance to get the season back on track.

Yes. Of course, that's why playoff positions are decided on that basis. Silly me.

When talking one teams domination over another head to head stats is obviously more relevant than ladder position

I'm still confused as to the upside of "Super Round"?
Just seems three sides miss out on a Home match for no real benefit.
Do they get compensated at all?
Wouldn't want to be based on Melbourne attendance figures.

I’m sure VIC government will say it bought in 1 million visitors and 100 billion to the economy.
