Never heard of him but from what I found on google he seems to be a bit like Burgs. A beef man.

Gabrielle Reilly: What work do you do around the station (American ranch)?

Troy Dann: My father and I are currently developing a marketing strategy to franchise our families free range beef (Centralian Gold). Believed by many to be the healthiest beef in the world with not pesticides or chemicals used in this remote part of mother earth. Hormone free and I believe it will become very popular in our ever changing health conscious society. Also Gab for me to give something back to this special part of our country that I know you hold close to you heart, by helping many rancher families receive better annual returns for this unique product. This will also tie in with our distributors to purchase healthy produce once again providing them with a healthier alternative to processed foods.

Having met him, he is actually a decent bloke who does what is required to sell.
The g banger bit wasn't meant to have been filmed but in "hind" sight, everyone still talks about it.
Not here to defend him but he has got some pretty rough press from just havin a go.
Best we focus on the man of the moment though because he was Hoooge!

    Hey,
Steve was a bit of a larrakin, which is fine by me, like others have mentioned I hope his family will be ok eventually. The Andrew Denton interview with him was a classic on Enough Rope! Probably what he would have wanted most was that at least a few people have their eyes opened to conservation.
    cheers

I personally think that showing the interview with irwin on enough rope on the actual day of his death is a bit disrespectful. sure maybe in a few weeks or so when the public have had time to let the news sink in and his family have had a little time to grieve, then think about showing the special.

He had only been dead a few hours when they aired the interview. his body was still warm and here ABC are, showing a cheerful and candid interview of him just cause it conveniently fit in with their other recently deceased interview (who's name escapes me).

I think they should have waited out of respect. My mum, dad and i deliberately didn't watch the special out of respect.

My thoughts go out to his young family and i hope his legacy of animal protection and environmental conservation lives on.

    R.I.P Steve.

Can't agree with you Jessc, I had seen it before, but that was one of Dentons best interviews ever, there NEVER is a RIGHT time to air something like that after someones death. I'm sure Terri and the kids and other close family were not sitting at home watching it, that was for us.

The other guy was Don Chipp ex leader of the Democrats, another great Australian whose insight into Australian politics is second to none. A straight shooter, with no regrets.

I believe both were relevant and were great viewing.

I'd seen the interview as well and i will admit it was one of my favourite of denton's.
But while there is never a right time, how can a few hours after his death be considered the best time? I still maintain it was disrespectful.
A great interview none the less but I still couldn't watch it.

Best or Right would be one in the same here. Don't confuse "my opinion" with "your morality". Everyone will feel differently about the timing, the main thing is that we remain aware of his plight, which was the main part of that and any interview he ever did.

i wonder what sort of reception the ABC got with emails and letters and such after they decided to broadcast the interview.
I agree TIF... everyone will have a different opinion on the timing.

I heard about that in mentor. I just turned around and said:
"well atleast he died doing some he loved, annoying animals"

    Harsh but funny.

    Yeah, funny but very harsh.
I think its really quite ironic - he died doing something he has done all his life, and that only a handfull of people have died that way..

Did anyone here see the interview done on Current Affair tonight - it really touched me.
