Hawaii in frame for World Series Rugby spot

I'd better start saving for a tour.
Go Twiggy. Another part of the world that World Rugby is chasing and in he goes.

Western Force are set to face a Hawaii-based team in next year’s $1 million World Series Rugby competition.
It is understood the side will be bankrolled by a consortium led by Hawaiian businessman and politician Richard Fale and players will be recruited from the Pacific Islands.
Fale was a prospective buyer for the New Zealand Warriors earlier this year. He missed out on the NRL club but has a goal of taking professional rugby to the US’s 50th State.
He also expressed interest in Super Rugby but it is understood he is now committed to a franchise in the new competition after discussions with WSR management.

Spent 4 weeks in Hawaii last year and would not hesitate to go back.

It would be a great InnForcers Tour! (Although with Hong Kong and Singapore as other potential teams, my tour budget might need a top-up)

Yard house in Honolulu had something like 130+ beers on tap and they showed the Rugby League World Cup game vs France for us last year.

Best pub however was Kona Brewing Co on Hawaii (The Big Island).

Sure is. Just spent a month away where the average price of a pint is $5. Who's gunna resist a bargain like that?

Yes, the time difference, seems to be at odds with Twiggy's time zones vision for WSR.
However I did notice a few months ago that he had registered the name World Series Rugby in North America. which puzzled me at the time. Maybe this Hawaii team has been on the boil for a few months. He does not appear to have registered WSR anywhere else other than Asia and Australia.

I think Hawaii would be a great addition although I'm not so sure about whether it's a good idea to have that much travel. I guess time will tell I will have to see how it all goes but I haven't really done the sums in my head, it sure seems like a lot of travel although I'm not sure what the distances between Japan and Hawaii would be, seems a very long way.

I'm glad World Series rugby seems to have gotten in first and super rugby has again dragged is heels and seems to be going nowhere as usual meanwhile RA and the stakeholders from SANZAAR struggle to make up their minds about how to run a fair organised competition that people actually want to watch un like the s*** we have been served up recently

I love the comment where they actually reference the fact that teams have invested so much money yet they still just get kicked out of the competition and it's such a risk for these teams to engage in a competition without any certainty eg. The Western Force. Hopefully it's wake up call that if they don't get into these up and coming emerging markets that world series rugby will beat them to it and eventually Super Rugby will be reduced to or nothing competition which it pretty much has been now anyway.

Exciting times and I guess we now know who replaces Western Sydney if they don't emerge although the media reports from Alan Jones seems to suggest that Western Sydney might still be on the cards. Funnily enough this seems to be the franchise that they were trying to get the Rock on board Dwayne Johnson to try and promote and even I believe own the franchise but World Series rugby seems to have gotten in on the opportunity first which is great news and I think a team with combined Pacific islanders will be a great addition to the competition considering how exciting the exhibition matches were compared to the regular bore fest we get from Super Rugby

In fairness I do love my late morning/lunch time rugby on the TV, some of the mitre 10 cup times and NRC times have been fantastic, if it means games on all day then I am fine with it.
