So who do we have now..

    -Western Force
    -Panasonic Wildknights
    -Unknown Japanese team
    -Hong Kong
-Singapore (rumored to be very interested, no real news and no real team setup to speak of other than their terrible national side that would need a huge injection of key star marquee players in alot of vital positions)
-Fiji (there application for super rugby seems to have been denied)
-Hawaii (Pacific Islanders Team- seems to have had there proposal to join super rugby also denied- also look to have replaced Western Sydney or the New Zealand Mitre 10 cup all star side in WSR)

    7 teams

Rumours are Western Sydney might be in according to Alan Jones so if true that will leave just New Zealand without the mitre10 cup all star side and 8 teams in WSR.

In fairness it's a pretty isolated Island and a long distance for any team to travel to, including a US team. In saying that they would be a good addition and I could just imagine the amount of Force fans that would stop into Hawaii to watch a game or two before heading to the US for a holiday. It definitely makes heading to the US more attractive for me when organising a holiday if I can stop in and watch world series rugby in the way.

I can't believe super rugby snubbing all these teams, they are on their knees and desperate to improve the comp and seemed to be cutting off all potential expansion teams whilst they shrink to obscurity.

[QUOTE=jargan83;461506]Yard house in Honolulu had something like 130+ beers on tap and they showed the Rugby League World Cup game vs France for us last year.

    mmm 130 beers on tap.
sounds like a lot of stale beer TBH
but i'm sure they pull all the beers off every morning

Saw this article back in March but something else reminded me of it overnight:

HAWAIIAN Airlines is considering nonstop flights from Hawaii to Perth after it committed to buying several ultra-long-range Boeing 787-9 planes yesterday.

Speaking from Honolulu the airline’s president and chief executive Peter Ingram said destinations “such as Perth were certainly options”.

“While delivery is three years away and we have not yet examined in detail the different markets the Boeing 787 gives us a many interesting possibilities such as London and Perth.”

The airline ordered 10 787s and 10 options for delivery in the first quarter of 2021.

Hawaiian Airlines is one of the Pacific’s great success stories and its fleet now numbers 53 and it flies to 28 destinations including Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland.

"The 787 Dreamliner combines excellent comfort for our guests with fantastic operational performance and will allow us to continue modernizing our fleet into the next decade," said Mr Ingram.

"It has more seating capacity than Hawaiian’s current wide-body fleet, which will allow us to further build upon our successful growth in Asia."

He added that “the Dreamliner’s excellent fuel efficiency makes the 787-9 an ideal choice for Hawaiian’s long-haul Asia/Pacific and North America routes.”

Now in its 89th year of continuous service, Hawaiian is Hawaii’s biggest and longest-serving airline.

It offers non-stop service to Hawaii from more US gateway cities (11) than any other airline, along with service from Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa and Tahiti.

The airline operates approximately 170 jet flights daily between the Hawaiian Islands, with a total of more than 250 daily flights system-wide.

The Boeing 787 that Hawaiian has ordered is identical to the model that Qantas will use to launch Perth to London flights on March 24.

The interest from Hawaiian Airlines adds to the momentum that Perth Airport and the State Government are building for more international services.

China Eastern will start services later this year from Shanghai to Perth, while Japan Air Lines is expected to announce Tokyo -Perth services this year.

Norwegian Argentina has also been give rights to fly from Buenos Aires to Perth, although that possible service is several years away.

What’s the flight time likely to be? 15 hours or so?

Wonder if Twiggy has enough pull to persuade Barrack Obama to attend the first game in Hawaii?!!

9 hours and 30 mins from Sydney to Honolulu and we were just short of 10 coming back, so 14/15 would probably be in the ball park.
