RA Marketing article - Marketing Executive At Australian Rugby

it is a month old but i just found a very accurate article on Marketing at the ARU/RA

Bruce’s role at Australian Rugby is a challenging one – one he’s been doing flawlessly for many, many years now. It’s a thankless job and demands a lot from whoever finds themselves shouldering the responsibility.

“Not many people have what it takes to be a Marketing Executive at Australian Rugby,” he said.

“We work hard, long hours to make sure everyone knows about what’s happening in rugby. The upcoming fixtures, tours and Test matches.

So Betoota has shelved satire and doing straight journalism now?

Absolute classic and I'm shocked that I never read that earlier. Hilarious!!
The Advocate reached out to a number of local rugby union fans – all of which had no idea when the Queensland Reds were playing next.

Alistair Girthy-Goblin, a local rugby fan who works in a field loosely-related to finance in an office somewhere in town, said that he often has to do his own research when it comes to rugby – rather than happening upon it through marketing or advertising.

“I’m just discovering what the NRC is now,” he said.

“Sounds promising. Anyway, dear boy, I think rugby is a game best enjoyed in an empty stadium. You don’t get all the whooping and hollering you do at other sports. The Australian Rugby marketing approach reflects this. The fewer people who come to games or know anything about the sport – the better,”

“However, if we don’t win the Bledisloe this year, I’m going to call for the board to be sacked and the players put out to pasture in French rugby. There is no excuse!”

Reason might actually be trolling as he is a Pom that likes to rile the Kiwis.

As for this article I didn't realise the RA had a marketing executive.

I actually thought it was a photo of Rob Clarke for a moment - and the article would actually make sense

    Survey taken late January, 2018.
21% find Rugby Union exciting to watch, 53% find Rugby Union boring to watch.

Another triumph of ARU/RA Management and Marketing.

Still, it keeps the riff-raff away from Rugby Union matches so that the Legion of Rugby Snobs from Mosman can sit in their corporate boxes and enjoy their Chardonnay and their Pimms without all that uncouth cheering by the hoi polloi.

Shows how bad the game is marketed. People giving out about too many penalties on Alan Jones' article. The fact of the matter is that the Wallabies discipline is appalling. Ireland will give out an education in that.

In how to play the game and control the breakdown without giving away dumb penalties. There was one game played recently where Ireland only gave away three penalties.

There's something deeply disturbing about that poll when 28% think Formula 1 is exciting to watch.
