If you turn on 7mate now in Perth you'll still catch the game.

    So, it's on delay.

Managed to stick it out till the end. Torrential wild windy rain and lightening. The worst conditions you could get. Was a shame as huge swaths of the crowd started leaving the harder it rained. Still a good night. Very very scrappy game though, i assume both teams hands were freezing and they couldnt catch the ball.

Foxtel in Sydney only showed a delayed highlights package of 60 minutes.

Luckily I was able to pick up on the telecast where I left it at the stadium. With a hot cuppa and some chocolate.

I was quite surprised how clear the weather was after the game on the way to the car

    A very fair self-assessment.
    Playing conditions were poor.

Yep we hung around a bit after the game and bought some Tshirts for the kids. As soon as we got back to the car and went to leave the car park the rain came back in Force.. lucky but we got out of there unscathed

I know that there is a lot happening behind the scenes but there is one major factor which confirms to me that we have to get out from under any level of control/intervention/frustration from Rugby Australia - and that's the refereeing of the modified rules.

The refs are currently being provided under Rugby Australia.
There is no doubt in my mind that they are under instruction and/or they are being judged against suitability to ref SR.

For the first game (against Fiji), the ref from Brisbane, did a fair job of trying to accommodate/integrate the rule mods esp related to scrums and lineouts in an effort to speed up the game.

Since then it's been a case of the refs actively ignoring the major rule mods - esp those related to the scrums.
It was very noticeable under Will Huiston (who just reffed the games like a normal SR game - in my view badly. (But he shows all of the traits of being a good Shore School lad and fits right in to the Rugby Aust view of the World) He is a poor ref - esp for the Western Force. As is Angus G. Refer to the NRC game against Melb Rising last year).
Last night, our local ref Graham did exactly the same and was even more anal about resetting scrums.
Despite the wet conditions the aim is to give a quick penalty in an endeavour to increase the amount of ball-in-play time.
I hope that he can try harder for the last two games - esp against Panasonic which is the chance to get a glimpse of what WSR could be next year)

It will only be when we can break the Rugby Australia shackles that WSR will really start to move forward.
I see little alternative but for WSR 2019 to be based off-shore
May it happen soon so we can start developing and promoting the new way forward as the SR model is so broken.

Absolutely gob-smacked to watch just a little of what the Wallaby-packed Waratahs dealt out against the Brumbies last night.
So much to play for and most of their big $$ stars went missing and seemed dis-interested.
(Just as they did in the last game of last year).
Sadly this game was an opportunity to showcase Australian rugby.
The Waratahs score a FF (Double Fail) yet again.

Is it any wonder that the Wallabies struggle to play 80 minutes of rugby???

So true Andrew. The RA are so obviously thumbing their nose at WSR, very petty minded group they are but why should we be surprised. You would think these guys would be thinking about how they will manage come the next year or so as SR being on the ropes-they’re not doing themselves any favours with job opportunities as far as WSR goes. Doubt whether Hodgo &Twiggy will consider their CVs.

I wonder if Minderoo would be open to holding a members’ forum towards the end of the year? Something that gives members the chance to provide views, thoughts, comments and ideas, and receive an update on what’s planned for 2019 and beyond. I know that so much is ‘commercial in confidence’ and subject to all sorts of legal constraints, but I get the sense that many in the sea of blue would like to be a little clearer on the way ahead and what Andrew Forrest’s plans are beyond 2018.

    Thoughts anyone?

If there is sufficient interest, I can always raise it via RWA.

I think that would be a great idea Alison. In Force version 1.0 fan engagement came too little too late.
