10 man bench. Is this a list to be whittled down tomorrow, or have we got the go-ahead from World Rugby for rolling subs?

Not rolling subs yet, but I believe they can have a 10 man bench, still awaiting approval of the rolling subs from WR.

He was looking pretty big when he came on in previous game(s). Great for northern hemisphere scrummaging, but not so great for southern hemisphere general play. I don't recall seeing anything about an injury, but they may be trying to get the weight off him while not ruining his set piece advantage.

Also, IIRC, KBomb has always needed regular games to be at his most effective; he never seemed to do well immediately after coming back from injury or even after a bye. The 2-3 week gaps between games wouldn't help him, although the NRC would be excellent for him.

How are ticket sales going for this one? Anyone know? Lots more advertising than normal and I heard it should be clear skies tonight.

Western Force primed for biggest test yet against Crusaders

    Nick TaylorThe West Australian
    Friday, 22 June 2018 2:00AM

Western Force face a daunting challenge when they confront eight-time Super Rugby champions Canterbury Crusaders at nib Stadium tonight.

The Crusaders have brought a squad boasting almost 750 Super Rugby appearances and coach Scott Robertson warned the home side to be ready for a brutal onslaught.

Force captain Ian Prior is confident his team has the firepower to tackle the Kiwi big guns, but knows it will need a special effort to improve on its record of just two wins in 11 Super Rugby meetings.

“What an opportunity for the younger guys to test themselves, and for us who have been around a while, to come up against guys we have played against over the last few years,” Prior said.

The Force have worked hard at eradicating the mistakes that led to soft tries in the 28-12 loss to the Melbourne Rebels last Saturday week.

“We’ve had a good two-week build-up and honed in on improving a few things,” Prior said.

“You have to start by doing the basics well and we will need a big work rate. Our defence will be tested. It’s about staying patient and disciplined and making sure we have good line speed.

“The Crusaders are very patient, they like to build pressure and strike when it suits them. We cannot give them any loose counterattack ball.

“They kick with purpose and our work rate off the ball is going to be a big one.”

Robertson said the game gave him the opportunity to prepare for the Crusaders’ title defence when Super Rugby returns after the month-long Test break.

“It’s going to be brutal at the rucks and in contact and is exactly what we need in this June break,” he said.

“We have got a balanced squad, a lot of guys with a lot of Super Rugby experience and a lot of young guys who have got a great opportunity here.”

Former Springbok Jaque Fourie has retired, but will remain Force’s defence coach.

“You are retired for a long time and I was really looking forward to playing again, however when you have too many birthdays the body says enough,” he said.

“I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to make it on to the field in a Force jersey, but I am genuinely excited about being able to put 100 per cent into my role as an assistant coach of this outstanding group of players.”

Now less than about 2,500 allocated seats left in total, plus the South Stand is sold out, so the only GA left is at the North (shed) end, not quiet sold out, but not far off
