Is that the official crowd? I'm surprised it was announced to be less that 10K. I thought they would have fudged the figures.

    As reported by The Age:

Perhaps the VRU wasn't able to intervene quickly enough with The Age to suppress the attendance number?

That's not a great crowd for what's essentially a visit from an ersatz Argentina national team

Jeez, that's a hard article to read. I've been staying out of the Super Rugby loop and concentrating on the Force season coming up and our new team line-up, so I haven't exposed myself to much media; but I just realised how bloody awful it feels to read so many of our old team members' names in that article.

Time: Well, potentially but the ARU/RA need to think ahead about this, when is it most likely there won't be three AFL games back to back? I can tell you Saturday afternoon is not the answer.

Weather: It's Melbourne, if they can't handle shit weather there the Rebels will never have support, it doesn't stop the AFL fans.

Delighted the Jaguares won. They get too much stick as they are easy to shoe from far away.

The scheduling is horrendous. No Friday night Australian game for the past two years. Couldn't give a monkey's anus if there are other sports broadcasting at this time slot. This is Rugby and as I saw from the Brumbies this giving up mentality has got to stop. The Brumbies had the Highlanders on the rack down 15-10 with just over twenty minutes left. Hawera throws the intercept from inside the Highlanders' 22, the team gives up after that. Ends up as 41-17. Personally I am still pissed off at that result and the attitude displayed after that try.

This give up mentality is not the Australian sport I grew up with. Kerry Packer will be rolling in his grave at what is going on. Not just with his own tv network. People bang on about Queenslanders' mentality to not give up however usually it is against pea hearted New South Welshmen. The days of Kieran Perkins winning a Gold Medal from lane 8 are well gone.

Maybe they have copped that if you announce inaccurate figures you are required to account for them then pay tax on it.

I thought you only had to pay tax if you made a profit?!

We have no idea what the VRU accounts are like. They have to payroll tax, report GST figures on their BAS.

Most teams announce lower attendance figures to reduce their tax bill.

I see the RA hadn't even put up a match report summary on their website so disappointed they are.
