Australian rugby union may have a new star after a 17-year-old went on a try-scoring spree for the Western Force on Sunday.

Courtney Hodder scored six tries on debut during the Western Force’s 85-13 Super W rugby opening round win over Melbourne.

Hodder crossed four times in the first 25 minutes and added two more after the break In Cottesloe.

The Force led 45-8 at halftime and scored 13 tries to two.

It isn't in the printed addition (seen in a cafe). There were, however, stories on the AFL (2 pages), ARL, A-League, EPL, Tennis, etc.

FORCE WOMEN NAMED FOR NSW CLASH
The Alcohol.Think Again Western Force Women have made four changes to the 23 for Sunday’s Round Two Buildcorp Super W clash with the NSW Women at Allianz Stadium, Sydney.

In the only changes to the starting XV, Wallaroos lock Rebecca Clough comes into the second row after having a massive impact off the bench last week while Claudia Foster will start at inside centre after being called into the squad this week as injury cover.

In the reserves, Mercedes Putz will make her Buildcorp Super W debut whilst Wallaroos World Cup tourist Huia Swannell comes into the side after missing last week’s victory.

A slight backline reshuffle sees skipper Trilleen Pomare move to fullback with her Wanneroo teammate Tui Cope stepping into the No.10 jersey.

Head Coach Seb Delport says the team is excited for the challenge against the tournament favourites in enemy territory.

“The girls are definitely up for the fight and really looking forward to getting over to Sydney and having a crack,” he said. “This week our focus has been making sure our review and preparation is consistent and we are holding high standards internally.”

“The big thing we have been talking about is adapting to the conditions and the opposition. Last week was great but it is in the past. We know this will be a full 80-minute battle and we need to be ready for anything that they throw at us.”

“Bec Clough coming into the starting side is a great inclusion, she was fantastic off the bench last week and we are looking for her to front up again against a strong NSW pack.

“We have moved some players around in our backline. Tui Cope had a great game in the centres last week and she moves to flyhalf this week and Trilleen Pomare goes to fullback where she is very comfortable and can be very dangerous.”

The Alcohol.Think Again Western Force Women’s clash with NSW will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 501 at 10:30am AWST and replayed on www.rugby.com.au following the final whistle.

No doubt a few Force players will become targets for the NSW defence after the last game at Cott. Plenty of depth in the squad to score elsewhere though, should be a good game!

It will be interesting to see if NSW name Katrina Barker and Shanice Parker. That would make it 17 of the 30 players on the field are west aussies or from WA pathways.

Neat, both selected - Hope both Shanice and Katrina play an outstanding game on Sunday then. Not too outstanding of course..

I understand it's exciting to see the IPRC announcing fixtures, but on the right hand bar of the site, why are the Super W not listed as upcoming fixtures ?

There's a home game coming up as well ... v QLD up at Wanneroo

Perhaps because Super W comes under the umbrella of RugbyWA?

The IPRC/WSR is the international game which hopefully the professional team will be playing next year.

I think Kev's meaning this site though, in which case Coach can do whatever the flip he wants... so hopefully he'll add them in.
