At some point someone will stand back a few paces and think about what they've done in appointing a CEO like this. ie ask the question "WTF have we done?"

Her stated aim was to become head of the NZRU after she parted company with the Bulldogs.

So the ARU Board appoint her to CEO of the ARU; brilliant. Is it just another job on her way to something better? This is not a normal corporate role; you need to be passionately invested in the game and focussed on nurturing the roots.

The CEO of the ARU must be Australian and have a solid track record in community rugby as well as a corporate background with appropriate tertiary qualifications. The main reason quoted why Ms Castle was appointed was that she had good media skills and the other candidates didn't ; give me a break. Who else were they considering ? Ronald McDonald and Humphry B Bear?

At any stage, the CEO and Board must openly acknowledge that the mum who manages the U10's at an Adelaide club, the 64 year old who coaches 3rd grade at a Townsville club, the guy with a sore knee who referees the lowest grade in Sydney subbies, the lady who's been the secretary / registrar at a Darwin club for the past 20 years and the teacher who's coached rugby at his school for more years than he can remember are just as important as any ARU Board member and are all a vital part of Australian rugby then the ARU are stuffed.

It is also not about the top 50 players and how much they get paid. As a rule, Australian rugby players have no sense of duty to the community and are there to get their snouts in the trough if they can jostle ARU Board members out of the way. Until this changes the ARU are stuffed. There a few exceptions and Nathan Sharpe would be amongst those.

The current Board must do the right thing and walk. Whilst they are there, the sore will continue to fester.

    I think there's a couple of differences:
    1. a strong Kiwi accent and
    2. uses the word "challenge" a lot more that her predecessor did.

Thank heavens, the TWF has come to life again.

Clyne must think we are like cockroaches. He has nuked WA and he thinks everything is dead, but we keep chirping away.

I disagree about being Australian. If Ian Ritchie came out of retirement tomorrow Raelene would be on her bike. He did a fantastic job with the LTA and RFU. Already had a track record with a governing body not a club.

No question marks over a person who makes the RA look like the clowns they are. It's a positive character trait.

If she does a good enough job in her time as RA CEO to be wanted by NZRU I'll be stoked! Better than not being wanted by the Nepalese union pro bono; which I imagine is the position the last one finds himself in.

Not sure if this has been posted on here previously.

A gold class comment on the petition

He is a disgrace to the code and has set rugby back decades. He helped steal 20million of grassroots money and poured it into an insolvent New Zealand business and for that he needs to go.

He has caused a senate inquiry into the sport and lied whilst in front of the senators about his part in helping prop up a kiwi businessmans interest.

Clyne is the worst thing to happen to Rugby in a long time.

After axeing the force he then chose to cut off the 3rd biggest playing pool so he could keep his Victorian (Melbourne Rebels) team despite spending all the money meant for junior rugby on a dysfunctional franchise that was a front to steal money for a dodgy unit trust. A unit trust that features a member of the VRU board.

Where was Clynes plan to help continue WA Rugby, he had none despite the empty promise.

Rugby under Clyne has gone back decades and the damage he has caused the sport is truely unbeleivable.

You turned our loved sport in a joke you money thieving grub and for that I hope you rot in hell.

Please tell me where the pathway is for all the junior WA rugby players ? Thats right there isnt one you lying scum.

Rot in hell Clyne, you are truely pathetic!

I disagree that Pocock is interested in making as much money as possible. He is a socialist - a genuine one, not one of the many pretend ones who spout the socialist mantra but live in a penthouse apartment in a rich suburb and drive a Merc.

I'd have preferred they'd picked Kearns.

Although he was mostly a cringe worthy pain in the ass. I got the impression he started to get what we were all about during last season. He defended us on a few occasions I can remember

Interesting story about a happening in Paris ...

Police raid French rugby federation headquarters

    23 January 2018

Police have carried out raids at the French rugby federation headquarters today amid an investigation into an alleged conflict of interest involving federation president Bernard Laporte.

A person with direct knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press that the national financial prosecutor’s office ordered the police searches at the national centre of rugby in Marcoussis, outside Paris, where the France squad is preparing for the Six Nations.

Laporte’s place of residence was also raided, the source said.

Last month, French sports minister Laura Flessel gave justice officials the conclusions of an investigation into Laporte, who has denied accusations that he pressured the French federation’s appeals board to reduce sanctions against Top 14 club Montpellier, which is owned by his close friend, Mohad Altrad.

Following a three-month investigation, the French sports ministry said Laporte contacted the appeal commission’s president on June 30 and stressed that the phone call resulted in a change of decision from commission members.

Montpellier’s €70,000 fine was reduced to €20,000 and a one-game stadium ban was cancelled after Laporte’s intercession.

Prosecutors have now decided to open a formal investigation that could lead to Laporte being handed preliminary charges.

According to L’Equipe newspaper, a dozen police officers conducted the raids. The French federation did not immediately answer a message from the AP seeking comment.

Altrad, a Syrian-born French billionaire, also sealed a partnership with the French federation to become the first shirt sponsor of the Tricolors. Earlier this month, the French federation said its ethical committee considered the new sponsorship deal signed with construction equipment group Altrad did not cause a conflict of interest.

The five-year contract is expected to yield €35m for amateur rugby. The Altrad group was the sole bidder.

Been on the cards for a while and Laporte has been accused of a lot less than the RA and Rebels clowns.

If the Rebels went through the financial audits that French clubs have to endure they would have been gone years ago.

As posted before, the ARU/RA has bet the farm on the Rebels turning around their financial position as quickly as possible.

The ARU/RA spinmeisters will be using every half-truth, exaggeration and favourable set of numbers to report how wonderfully the Rebels are doing in 2018.

I don't know why Ms Castle would bother to come to WA, since she is going to have her hands full later this year when the present tensions between the NSWRU, the QRU and the ARU/RA explode into open warfare. WA is merely an unwelcome distraction for her and the puppeteers of the ARU/RA Board.

We all understand that she has no choice but to parrot the ARU/RA's official line about the destruction of the Force and WA Rugby, and that she will not have anything tangible or meaningful to put on the WA Rugby Community's table if or when she does visit WA.
