I have never seen where Nick has come up with an ASIC name, nor a quote from any official of that body, though I do hope that he is right

They won't name individuals from ASIC. Reynolds was dealing with an individual from there during the Inquiry who sent on 300 odd pages of finances.

She has since sent on the emails that he has dug up on to ASIC.

And in today's West Australian Nick Taylor reports:
ASIC investigation into Western Force saga ‘imminent’.
“I think it’s imminent. I think the feedback is that we were expecting it so it should be any day,” said Castle.

It should be referred to as the ASIC investigation into the Melbourne Rebels saga.

But let's see all the undercover dealings brought into the light.

ASIC investigation into Western Force saga ‘imminent’

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission investigation into Rugby Australia’s controversial dealings with the Melbourne Rebels ahead of axing Western Force from Super Rugby is imminent.

New RA chief executive Raelene Castle, in her first visit to Perth since her appointment seven weeks ago, confirmed the move yesterday.

“I think it’s imminent. I think the feedback is that we were expecting it so it should be any day,” said Castle, who was not RA CEO when the decision to axe the Force was made.

“At the end of the day there is going to be an ASIC inquiry. It will come with some findings and that is going to be probably as close to the truth as we get. I think we need to have a look at that.”

A senate inquiry into the future of the sport recommended the ASIC inquiry when their report was handed down last year.

Meanwhile, Castle did not rule out a return of the Force to a national competition when the current Super Rugby broadcast deal ends in two years.

That could be in a new Super Rugby format or an integration of the tournament with billionaire Andrew Forrest’s new Indo Pacific Rugby competition.

“Absolutely (that’s an option). That’s a piece of work that Rugby Australia are doing at the moment,” she said.

“They will take their views to the SANZAAR table.

“We all have to remain open-minded because who knows what the new (Super Rugby) version might look like.

“It’s about finding the compromise that works from a commercial perspective.”

RA must give its tick of approval with the major stumbling block being whether Australian players in IPRC teams will be eligible for Wallabies selection.

“We’ve always been open to the discussions. It actually comes down to the detail about eligibility,” Castle said.

“We have a talent pool as a pathway into Wallabies selection and we want to keep more of those playing in Australia. That’s always the aim from a Rugby Australia perspective.”

Castle had talks with Forrest, the RugbyWA board, State Government representatives local club presidents and disgruntled Force fans during her two day visit.

Despite every move they have made in the last 12 to 18 months actually achieving the exact opposite.

I spoke with someone who was listening to her press conference and apparently Nick gave her a grilling but she kept sidestepping. The media need to keep up that pressure.

De Clyne and Castle will be pleased about the Rebels result. A 50-19 hiding they copped.

Shame that all the force men had to be associated with a spanking like that, but I can't say I'm not delighted to see the experiment fail, long may it continue
