SANZAR to begin TV Negotiations next April for 2021 onwards

Stumbled over this tidbit of info this arvo:

In a move that threatens to reshape New Zealand's sporting and broadcast landscapes, New Zealand Rugby is expecting internet giant Amazon to throw its hat in the ring and compete for the next round of rugby broadcast rights.

Sanzaar's formal bidding process for rights to screen provincial, Super and test match rugby from 2021 is now slated to be under way by April next year, an earlier-than-usual start time to allow new overseas players - Amazon's Prime Video streaming service being the most notable - to address not-insubstantial infrastructural issues.

More like a fire sale with ratings almost as low as a Rat's Arse popularity poll.

I honestly don’t think sanzaar give a shit about RWA anymore.
That - and not every world event is being done to the detriment of RWA.

Pretty sure that the deal is being negotiated this early is due to the chance that more SA teams will move to Europe and the tv deal from the usual suspects is likely to be less.

But the kiwis aren’t a rabble and any comp which doesn’t contain them will be second best

Guys have a look at the article they want to start broadcasting by 2021. IPRC starts 2019 with these and other streaming services already on board. Early bird gets the worm! What I’m trying to say is if the IPRC locks them in first then the other mob will have to settle for a much smaller price or stay with the status quo. Giddy farkyn up!!’

They will be if they tie themselves to the ARU's sinking ship.

It does make me wonder when Sanzaar will actually tap the cocks from the establishment on the shoulder and say tidy up your shit because at the moment no one wants to have a bar of us. Wonder when the kiwis will start to behind the scenes put the bustle on because they'll be losing money shortly hand over fist because of these jokers.

I doubt it Marinos is an ex player who developed his reputation as an incompetent administrator in Wales and SA the great bastions of Rugby administration.
