Because of the power base of QLD and NSW over the current structure there is a lot of duplication of effort between the states and the national body. It's all about power, not about what is best for the development of the game. If the governance was truly national then you could go about centralising many aspects, effectively creating a single national "platform" for the local teams to build on. A good platform engages the local identity, passion and stakeholders. It would undoubtedly require some sort of national draft. However while there is vested interest running the show this isn't going to happen.
Actually by suggesting that a centralisation model will improve the game in more ways that just by being able to assassinate the Force you are conclusively proving that you think differently than Clyne and Pulver.

Centralisation makes sense, which is why we can excuse Rugby WA for supporting the concept. Of course, the ARU/RU used it as a Trojan Horse and have killed the chances of any other state going down that path. Thus rugby loses twice due to their duplicity and incompetence.

I just cancelled my digital subscription and explicitly cited the reason as being the lack of coverage of the senate inquiry findings. I also said this raises questions about the editorial integrity of The Australian, and specifically makes me wonder if the financial links between the ARU, Foxtel and The Australian have influenced editorial decisions.

Saw that and it was lame.

The RA were willing to offer a strategic alliance with the Brumbies and saw that the books were better so didn't bother requesting the purchase of the IP

BTW, NSW Rugby CEO last night told a gathering of clubs that a Levy will be applied to all players in 2017 to help with dire financial circumstances.

Pathetic. Is that just for NSW and on top of the levy the RA are charging?

The ARU are the gift that keeps on giving! Not only have they forgone millions from recouping loans or accepting Andrew Forrests generosity, they're biggest member union is raising fees statewide. That will grow the game .... not. Not only did NSW influence the appointment of this board they then endorsed this boards stupidity at the EGM then did nothing when Twiggy stepped in. They are just as incompetent as the ARU.
Be interesting if the rumour is true that RATS ARSE is propping up the Rebels but told QLD to find money elsewhere. Qld might have to introduce a statewide levy as well. Meaning both NSW and Qld were duped into supporting the RAs bullshit grassroots promises.

But then again the board appoints a nomination committee to select the board so even if the 2 "heart"land states get cranky, a change of board starts the cycle all over again.

That increases the chances of a revolt and I would forward that on to the Committee to investigate

Thanks Hansie. Tempted to contact the NSWRU and get them to find out whether the RA have provided extra funds to the Rebels and to put the foot down on the board

Who pays the ARU levy in WA?

RugbyWA? Are they being directly charged it by RA? If so, refer it to my old mate Scotty Langdon of Korda Mentha to fester in the drawer with all the other bills that won't be paid.

To the individual clubs on a per player basis? Why would the clubs be liable? They have no direct contractual relationship or affilation with RA. The clubs are affiliated only with RugbyWA, and if RA doesn't recognise the Administrators of RugbyWA, how can they levy RugbyWA's affiliates? And what do they provide to the clubs? Not the Insurance, as that is paid by the players anyway as part of their club fees. It's just that if RA pays the premiums they are a little less (not by much) because the risk is spread Australia wide instead of only between the players in the state. If WA is to be reduced to playing amateur club rugby, bugger the insurance, lets collect a mutual fund each year and when it runs out, it runs out. Let's run chook raffles as a top up for the poor buggers that get hurt.

Just tell them to increase the levy on NSW players, Hansie, that's who RA represent anyway.
