I am fuckin' livid that we've been cut from the tens; it really fuels the speculation that someone really out to get us, that someone there hates Western Australia with a passion.

Japan and the Pacific Islands for Aussie Super 9's!

Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?

It was to be expected. The organisers were apparently pissed off because we were cut, obviously tried to to get the ARU/RA to do something about it, even if the ARU/RA wanted to surely the Rebels would refuse to release the players, you know, to pretend they are Rebels players now and for always, no funny business here.

But, on the bright side, hopefully this is indicative WA is no longer part of Australian rugby as a whole, meaning we can more of less do what we want without prostrating ourselves to those over East.

The neatest and most convenient solution to the ARU/RAs' "WA problem" is that Rugby Union in WA disappears completely (and forever).
The ARU/RA want us gone - professional, club, juniors and schools, all gone.

Sunday morning may reveal more. Maybe a rosy and busy future lies ahead for RugbyWA in SE Asia with our new friends. We will control our our destiny then. Maybe we cannot fit in Tens into our busy schedule in future years, even if we are invited.

    Absolutely.
The future for our rugby lies with Asia Rugby.

The sporting, business and political relationships which can be forged through closer links to rugby communities in Asia are far too important to be left to those ineffectual and myopic collectors of trophy board seats in the ARU/RA.

Absolutely and they used a Force player in the Badge to promote the event. Now so who is the Badge going to play for now? I hope Pau sign him up for the tournament and he scores the winning try off a pass from Conrad Smith to knock the Rebels out after beating the Waratahs.

"ASIC weighs up action against Rugby Australia after Force cull"

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission is hop*ing to reach a decision soon on whether to take further action against Rugby Australia in line with recommendations made by a Senate inquiry. (FURTHER action? What action has been taken thus far?)

The Senate inquiry was set up primarily to investigate how Rugby Australia — then known as the Australian Rugby Union — reached its controversial decision to axe Western Force in an effort to save the cash-strapped code and so ensure the other four teams become competitive again in Super Rugby.

In the course of its investigations, however, the inquiry concentrated heavily on the ARU’s financial dealings with the other club named as being on the endangered list, Melbourne Rebels.

The committee recommended that “the Australian Securities and Investments Commission review the evidence received by the committee regarding transactions involving the Melbourne Rebels”.

It also proposed that ASIC “review the financial circumstances reported in the Australian Rugby Union’s annual reports against the evidence presented to the committee”.

An ASIC spokesman told The Weekend Australian yesterday that the matter was being investi*gated. “We did note the recommendations and we’re currently considering the matter,” he said. “We would hope to respond as soon as possible, not too long from now.” (48-72 hours?)

The unwritten assumption from the Senate committee is that it believed there were irregularities at the former ARU and it was ASIC’s job to determine whether there was a breach of corporation law. ASIC would then need to consider if a prosecution was in the public interest.

Although rugby in the West will hold a public forum on *December 10 to keep the faithful appraised of developments on Andrew Forrest’s Indo Pacific Rugby Championship, there is no question the code is suffering. Further evidence was provided yesterday when the Brisbane Global Tens organisers revealed there would be no WA team in the 12-team tournament at Suncorp Stadium on February 9-10.

“We tried extremely hard to find a way to continue to include a team from WA in next year’s tournament,” Brisbane Global Rugby Tens chief executive Rachael Carroll said. “Sadly, during negotiations with several parties it became clear that we would not be able to guarantee that a WA team would be able to meet the player quality obligations of a Super Rugby side.”

I’m suggesting that everyone address their correspondence to the Acting Chair, Peter Kell, asking for a personal reply. We may not get one directly from him but I hope that the response will at least come from someone higher up the chain of command than the contact centre staff.

As for an address, check the ‘contact us’ tab on the ASIC website at www.asic.gov.au
