Looks like they were supporting the ARU and said that the Inquiry should never had gone ahead.

1.1 Labor members of the committee consider it regrettable that the matters covered by this inquiry ever reached this stage.
1.2 We understand that many in the rugby community remain unhappy with the Australian Rugby Union's (ARU) decision regarding the Western Force and that some in the rugby community hold concerns about the processes leading to that decision.
1.3 However, it is unfortunate that these issues have had to be referred to the Senate for inquiry and were not addressed earlier through other means.
1.4 Labor committee members note the evidence provided to the inquiry by ARU Chairman Mr Cameron Clyne and ARU Chief Executive Officer Mr Bill Pulver, which addressed many of the concerns raised about the removal of the Western Force and the processes around that decision. We also consider that Mr Clyne clearly explained in his testimony to the inquiry why the ARU did not consider reinstating the Western Force to be an option, despite promises that were made by third parties.
1.5 Australia's National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) are not immune to challenges and difficult decisions.
1.6 Labor believes NSOs should be supported to deliver strong, viable, successful elite and professional level competitions along with increased opportunities for grassroots participation for all Australians.
Do we exactly WHO those particular Labour committee members are?

Setting aside the report, there are two tasty "Easter eggs" in Reynolds address to the Senate about the report.

The first is about the ARU's alleged attempts to disrupt the enquiry. I believe Reynolds referred to the behaviours as "inappropriate and highly mis-directed attempts to stop the enquiry" .

The second was right at the end of her address; " evidence given.. again circumstances under which the committee will now further review the provision of this evidence and the content of the evidence".

Interesting to see if anything comes of either of those statement but it appears the Committee are not happy with the conduct of certain witnesses and particularly the ARU.

I did like the suggestion made by Reynolds that ARU sell the Force IP rights back to Rugby WA for $1.00.
Interesting quote from a Brumbies fan on G & G does it mean they are investigating possible contempt charges against certain witnesses?

Sounds a bit like it doesn’t it. I just watched Senator Reynolds’ speech and was very encouraged to hear her say they were looking into further matters. Hopefully they’ll be able to report on that before Parliament goes into its summer recess.

Was Murray Watt the idiot who was being all palsy with Clyne at the Canberra hearing?

Yeah sure was. Sen Pratt is not doing her party favours by being linked by association to those comments.

Senator Sam Dastyari was the Senator that was racially abused in a pub in Melbourne a few days ago.

Sorry is this confirmed or just supposition? If factual I would want to know if the Labour Party received a similar request? If so is this just further proof of cronyism and entitlement and further more raises questions around trying subvert a process of investigation?

I imagine that would come under obstructing the investigation.

    https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliam...tary_Privilege

When Sen Reynolds was interviewed by Alan Jones she said she had full support across parties. For the ALP to question the inquiry and come across as paid shills doesn't help and isn't relevant.

Good question. Dunno if any Labor people would be friends of a certain RUFC though. If true, I'm just glad they got told to bugger off. And really glad they got sussed out and dobbed in. Seems they think when you are stuck in a hole you just keep digging.

Labor deal with corrupt unions all the time, I think they would fit in quite well with the dodgy blokes in the ARU. :p
