Thanks to Linda and team - awesome job today.

Today's inquiry raised so many "action points" for Willy and co. Will one more inquiry date be enough as it seemed a bit curtailed today. It's only going to heat up from here and more digging their toes in from the ARU with confidentially etc. Is there provision for more sessions? Also, to what extent can the Senate Inquiry challenge confidentiality claims and request documents be tabled in the inquiry?

I'd pay to hear/see Clyne, Clarke and also the previous failed mystery buyer of the Rebels attend a hearing. Agree with Shasta - you'll need a bigger venue next hearing.

Wow, I just read Linda's CV. No wonder she can wrap her head around this little saga.

    and then theres this:

Linda Reynolds authored a senate document "Second Interim Report on the Inquiry Into the Conduct of the 2016 Federal Election: Foreign Donations", so she has an idea about suspect financing I guess.

Let's not forget, the money the ARU splurged on the Melbourne Rebels came from Broadcasting Revenue, Sponsors, Ticket sales, Player subscriptions etc. In other words all revenue streams who provide funding on the underlying basis that it goes to BUILD the game, that is for the game of Rugby. The ARU did not get this money from selling buttons, car parts or Ore, they have a moral responsibility to justify to whom and for what they spend "OUR MONEY".

All this commercial in confidence is BullShit and I hope the senators agree and refer this to the ACCC so that commercial in confidence documents can come to the light of day.

100%. Right through this sad saga they also refused to explain the criteria applicable to the massive spread sheet which has morphed into a simple scorecard. They always hid behind the "can't comment as it's the subject of legal proceedings". Even though the legal proceedings were simply about whether the ARU could legally cut the Force - I don't see the relevance.

From a layman's point of view the ARU seems to have lied, obfuscated or refused to answer all reasonable questions from anybody all along.

The senators need to directly question Clarke and Clyne. Mostly, they need to find out where all the money has gone. A referral to the ICCC would be an ideal outcome.

I'm struggling to see how the massive spreadsheet/scorecard can be commercially confidential when the information in it was presented to Rugby WA back in March/April by Clarke. Is Pulver saying that federal senators have a lower level of understanding in not passing sensitive information on than administrators? I'd like to hear that justification in front of a senate hearing!

Pulver claimed there are elements of confidential VRU/private owner and RugbyWA data within the spreadsheet.
I also believe RugbyWA were only shown a PowerPoint summary at the infamous (cop this writ) meeting

That meeting hasn’t come up enough. From firsthand accounts we know that was when we were told that it was us. Yet the ARU went on record saying the decision wasn’t made until August. It should be examined!

Jono you must be joking, Pulver told the world yesterday he had complete faith in the "integrity" of the process they ran!

However, there is plenty to suggest they had us in their sights from the beginning and the process was a sham, one of the key things we hope will come out as part of the Inquiry process. The difficulty will be it may not be clear cut, the ERU will claim they persisted with buying the Rebels as an option until relatively late in the process.

However, to the non-legal mind like mine that line of defence would be completely undone if the Inquiry uncovers that anyone in the ERU assisted with the Rebels being bought by the VRU, or if someone in the ERU was leaking info to the Rebels organisation - interesting avenues for the Inquiry to pursue I suspect! I wonder if either might constitute official corruption.
