Ross Xenos - "the current conversations around Australian Rugby are masking the need for a governance overhaul at ARU and state level".

RUPA basically said the ARU run a federated model it has little control over as state interests can be used to obstruct the national interests.

RUPA has finished. Morning tea. Next session is in camera so no audio until 11:30am. Tim North and the VRU up next. Surprise surprise, already hiding behind confidentiality.

RUPA doesn't even know two of the key voting outcomes from the June EGM and may have had more votes in favour to keep five teams. This contradicts what Pulver and Clyne have said

In camera? The schedule says the tea is to last one hour than the VRU come in and be honest over video conference

Xenos said that because of the weighting of the vote at the EGM, even with more states voting for something, the heartland states still hold the power of numbers of votes to get what they want. He also stated that when RUPA went to the ARU to start CBA negotiations, RUPA was provided details of Western Forces Alliance Agreement and finances but were not provided details of Melbournes situation. He also stated that the ARU were happy to leave the player welfare side of things to others.

Also, the Senate inquiry still has not been provided with the ARUs scorecard or spreadsheet. They better hurry if they don't want to be in contempt.

The likes of TWAS, Clyne and Pulver have given us the impression that there was no real objection from the representatives at the meeting to the culling of teams from five to four and the only objection was from Stookes who was excused from voting. No wonder the Senate are after the figures.

Some interesting points that zenos made then.. Sounds like he was trying to keep 5 teams or at least the 4 best teams

Just read NSWRUs submission. What a joke. They want a new governance model that gives them more power and more money.

Their argument is "we provide most of the players therefore our interests are more important than anyone elses", they also claimed that they would be providing the bulk of future players therefore deserve special arrangements. Without other states being funded to the tune NSW is, it is a no brainer they will provide most of the future players when you are actively trying to prevent competition from other states. Myopic wank.

There is no need to object if:
You are promised more money (5 into 4)
    You are promised better players
    You are promised better coaches
    You are promised less travel
You are told you are safe

    Soooo...who voted against 5 into 4?
