    Ballard of Bledisloe

Because it's been fifteen years and even with two home games we'd need a miracle to win this year.

So, to the tune of American Pie:

    A long, long time ago . . .
    I can still remember
How George Gregan made Jeff Wilson cry
And I knew if we had a crack
We could get our mojo back
And maybe have the Bledisloe, for while

But Michael Cheika makes me shiver
With each bad game plan he delivers
Bad news for our nation’s team
    Winning’s become a distant dream

    I can’t remember if I cried
When Howlett made their score so high
But something touched me deep inside
    When the wallabies died
    So

Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

Did you watch us as number one
And did you yell “Run Wallaby Run”
Our team used to put on a show
And do you remember big John Eales
Lifting the cup, giving us good feels
Nobody knew how to make us go-ooo

Well I know the team’s in the trash bin
And I saw Quade Cooper’s many sins
    His two amigo buds
    Are truly massive spu-uds

I was a lonely feral Rugby guy
Our world cup wins made me feel really high
But our hopes were all pie in the sky
    When the wallabies died
    I started singing . . .

Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

Now for ten years our hopes have been crushed
And our scrums have been as soft as mush
But that’s not how it used to be

When Dan Herbert ran a great line
And Larkham’s drop goal looked just fine
In a game they won for you and me

And while Eddie Jones was looking down
Johnny Wilkinson stole the wallabies crown
    Our winning was adjourned
    And it still hasn’t returned

And while the all blacks run us off the park
Even when folau takes one or two good marks
We’ll all sing dirges in the dark
    The day, the wallabies, die
    We’ll be singing

Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

The last world cup was a real belter
But the final had us seeking shelter
    Our hopes started falling fast

The all blacks ran across the grass
Nigel Owens missed their forward pass
With our fans crying and dreaming of the past

Well that painful loss made us all fume
Our team still seems like it is doomed
    With players off to france
    Our team has little chance

‘cos our team runs out onto the field
But the all blacks refuse to yield
Our lack of depth has been revealed
    As the wallabies die
    We started singing

bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

So there we were in a bad place
A rugby nation lost in space
And now we’ve got to start again

So Genia be nimble, Genia be slick
Make sure you kick the ball real quick
‘cos chargedowns are our opponents best friend

And when I watch our team on the big stage
My hands are clenched in fists of rage
    No coach of Waratahs
Can teach players how to pass

And as my blood alcohol climbs all night
To dull the pain of this losing blight
I saw Hansen laughing with delight
    When the wallabies died
    He was singing

Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

I met a player who’d never worn blue
And asked him for some happy news
But the selectors had turned him away

And I went to homebush just once more
Where we’d lifted the cup all those years before
But the staff there said the wallabies couldn’t play

And in the streets the young fans scream
The old fans think of what once had been
But not a word is spoken
Our hopes and dreams are broken

And the greatest players you’ll ever see
    Eales, Farr-Jones and Campese
Had retired to live a life easy
    The day, the wallabies, died
    And they were singing

Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died
The dreams of the wallabies have died

    They were singing
Bye, bye to the wallabies side
We can’t run or pass or kick and our score just isn’t high
And that smug kiwi crowd drinks Steinlager and smiles
Singing the dreams of the wallabies have died

you might need to finetune it a bit, changing some of the "we" and "our" to "they" and "their"

"A Wallabies great has dubbed the Bledisloe Cup as the Schapelle Corby Cup, due to its long absence from Australia.

Former Wallabies Joe Roff made the quip at the annual Gold Coast Rugby lunch last week, the Courier Mail reports."
