That doesn't matter anymore unfortunately. If a tackle starts legally and ends illegally it is still penalisable and sanctionable.

Agree gigs live I thought he was lucky not to see red. Ex league players have got to learn to wrap their arms around. A lot of those guys seems to put the shoulder in and put a token arm around.

Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!

Force's Chance Peni suspended for 3 weeks

"Western Force back Chance Peni has been suspended for three weeks for an incident in the Force's 31-22 win over Melbourne Rebels. The 23-year-old Super Rugby rookie pleaded guilty to a dangerous tackle charge after being cited during Saturday's match. He was sent to the sin bin in the fifth minute in Perth for a head-high shoulder charge that left Rebels lock Steve Cummins dazed and confused.

SANZAAR's foul play review committee chairman Nigel Hampton said after reviewing all evidence, the committee upheld Peni's citing.

"With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks," he said. "However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player's youth and inexperience in rugby, his clear judicial record and the fact he pleaded guilty at the earliest available opportunity, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to three weeks."

Western Force's Super Rugby season ends on Saturday with a home game against the Waratahs. It might be the final game the club plays in the competition, as the ARU decides which team to cut ahead of next season."

For those lamenting the involvement of the TMO, why do none of the infield officials make a call when the incident occurs? Watching the incident back and forth it looks like they both have a clear view of the incident. We would all be up in arms if a Force player copped a shoulder charge and it was missed by the on field and TMO officials.

Also the shoulder charge can't be chalked up as a League thing, the shoulder charge was banned 4 or 5 years ago in Rugby League. Also in SBW's case, how long has he been playing Union for?
