    Stupid, stupid boy.

I guess that's him off to Europe for next year, then. He's got his 60+ caps.

Nope, the Reds should sign him up, he'd be a perfect fit

I think you may be referring to the IOC/WADA rules, but that's missing 3 tests which equals one positive test. This is 2 positive tests (albeit not for a performance enhancing drug).

Have heard the powder at the Reds is quite prevalent for a while now - aka Hunt fitted in quite well. Oh well, another slap on the wrist for another one.

Depends if it's in competition or not

Anyway, it appears Slipper has significant personal and other issues that Castle and Co knew about. Apparently since February. And they knew about the first positive. These people have once again failed the player, the team, the supporters, the sponsors. Slipper should not have been playing high pressure professional sport, captain of a franchise FFS with a positive and significant issues. He should have been seeking help and treatment away from that environment.

Thank you Raelene, thank you RA, you have once again betrayed the trust of the rugby community

Couldn't agree more. The management of rugby in Queensland and Australia have known about this issue. Getting help should not wait until a 2nd positive test, it should have occurred after the 1st. Have they ever heard of duty of care?*

[* Considering how they treated the Force players and staff with no counselling, I'd say the answer is: "No, they've never heard of duty of care."]

I'm not sure it is fair to say RA or the QRU dropped the ball on this one. We don't know what support they did or did not provide. They aren't responsible for James Slipper's actions. They neither control what he does outside of his work role nor have any power to compel him to seek support (and even if they did compelled support is a waste of time). Now if you want to give RA shit for blatant neglect of Force players, go right ahead, but better not to be too prejudicial on this one. Either way, with multiple players involved with cocaine in 12 months, things will need to be addressed.

James the moment he failed the FIRST cocaine positive and continued to play and captain, with acknowledged "significant personal problems" was when RA failed it's duty of care. Professional sport isn't the "workplace" to seek help dealing with significant personal problems and coke snorting...as evidenced by the second positive. Raelene comments show just how far out of touch with reality they truly are.

And that's not even mentioning team mate KHunt being sent to Coventry for NOT snorting cocaine.

Again, I don't think we know enough about it to comment. Granted, captaincy is a responsibility he could have done without, but how do we know QRU or RA didn't strongly advise that he give up the captaincy? Is continuing to play good or bad for his mental health? There are strong arguments both ways. Perhaps professional sport was an escape from whatever those significant personal problems were. He's been injured for the last month, hasn't he? Scott Higginbotham started the season as captain, didn't he? How do we know that that choice was made in response to Slipper, that Slipper was feeling/reporting that things were better and re-assumed the captaincy and then injury back in April escalated the situation.

Makes me curious about how many players fail cocaine tests that we don't hear about (i.e. because it only happens once).
